Just got back.. Heading out to dinner with the woman..

Anyone else attend? I'll post my comments either late tonight or tomorrow.

One comment: Tedy Bruschi was on his game tonight.. Very relaxed and had some telling information about present and former pats..

Make it a quick dinner, okay? I'm guessing that I'm not the only one who is very curious in regards to what Mr. Bruschi had to say.

Between 6-8pm tonight in the Fidelity Suite at Gillette stadium, a panel of 4 individuals fielded questions about draft scenarios and possible Pat targets..

Mike Smith - ESPN BOSTON was the MC
Opening

Bob Kraft - great opening speech how the draft has grown in popularity. Remembers the day of it being held on Tuesday.. Brought up a story in his 1st year as owner of the team. Parcells introduced this potential draft pick to Kraft and said “this is the guy we want, he loves football”.. Kraft shook his hand, which he noticed it disappeared in this mans enormous mit. Kraft ask “is school important to you?” the candidate replied.. “yes sir, I will graduate on time, no matter how many years it takes me”. The crowd started laughing and Kraft shouted out, “this was the day I met McGinnest”

Johnathan Kraft – Talked how glad they were everyone turned out and hope they will be many more of these parties.

Floyd Reese – He talked for about 20 minutes about all different topics

- 35 years of being part of a draft
- It was his 36 wedding anniversary, he ran out after because his wife said if they didn’t get out to dinner, there would be no 37
- Said this is the deepest draft he’s seen in years
- Made reference to the Pats wanting players who think about football all the time and said “not players who don’t have their cleats during prodays”
- Believed the collective bargaining agreement would be resolved because there is to much a stake..

** Great 20 minute run down of everything.. Very articulate and no BS..

(I’ll update this part later)
McShay
Reiss –
Andy Hart
Bruschi – When he came out, the crowd went crazy
- Bruschi said its about time to move on from Maroney.
- Responded to a question about AD Thomas.. “I have no idea why he is still here.. He’s saying anti-patriot things
- Most important draft in the past couple of years
- Mentioned how he played OLB for four days before the coach moved him in.. Two Small. Made reference to SETTING THE EDGE and small guys can’t extend their arms out to stop the run and block the lane
- BTW I was 5 feet away from him.. HE smiled the entire time and HELD NOTHING BACK.. When a video came up of Kindle knocking out a qb, Bruschi said something I can’t repeat.. but everyone was laughing
- Like Kindle the most or a TE with the 1st pick
- ** MORE TO COME *** Sorry wife wants more mcsully time :p

** they field questions with the audience through the entire thing.. when I have more time, I’ll present it

I guess we can cross Dez Bryant off our list...

I'm a little surprised by Bruschi's comments re: LaMa & AFailus; and he really didn't recommend drafting a TE in the 1st round, did he?

Sounds like it should've been a great time, McS; I wish I were there.

I am still on a high from it. We just watched a move, wife and I and I can barely remember what it was about.

The cool part of the night was seeing everyone joke around with one another. Mcshay is a good guy even though he catches flake from some people.

Bruschi did say that and wants the kid from ASU.

The crowds breath was taken away multiple times on how frank Teddy was. In his opinion, maroney has been given the chance and even though he is a good guy it's time for néw blood.

Brusci stole the show but reiss and hart were very good. Hart was a little more reserved but I noticed bruschi poked him a few times during some lite humor.

With all due respect to Tedy, I'm wondering if there's some sort of underlying interpersonal issue there. In any case, Maroney is under contract for this year, and then he's a FA, so I suspect that the "worst case" scenario has him playing out the year and then moving on.

bruschi seems like an open and above board kind of guy to me, not the one to backstab like that.

I think if he liked Maroney personally, he'd say so, and if he didn't like him
personally he'd say so, but he wouldn't dump on the guy's career just because there was a personal issue.

Can't picture this of Bruschi at all.

No personal issue at all and Teddy even said that he like LoMo but he wants new blooded added to the team. Nothing about dumping him
Teddy said something to the effect "LoMo seems to still be learning and it's taking a while."

Here's the thing u need to remember, Teddy job is different now and he's making a judgement call on situations

I forgot to mention, they showed a short video clip of Archie Manning talking about Te ow and Bruschi was booing him with the crowd. It was quite funny

This is hilarious. It's cool Bruschi being retired because we now know how he felt about certain people and he can let it go.

That Dez Bryant thing is kind of depressing (see my avatar), but maybe this is the pats way saying they're really targeting him, I can only dream. :D

Thanks McSully and all, very interesting stuff. 54 is the best.

Can we file any other players under "don't think about football all day" like we can with Dez Bryant?

Going to switch gears here with all the Bruschi talk and talk about Reese.. Just recalling his speech.. Let me tell you this, when he 1st came here, I wasn't overly excited. I had read reports the reason why the Titans were in salary cap hell was because of him.. After last night, I'm going to say no way..

Next to Bruschi, he was the best.. I can't imagine anyone walking away last night and not being impressed with him..

He mentioned

1. The combine isn't as important as it once was (except Medical and meeting the player)
2. 40 time is the fastest that player will ever run in his life time
3. All the cone drills are less important to evaluate top 50-60 prospects with because as soon as their season ends, they are down in Florida learning how to do these for 3 months
4. SOme years there are only 10-15 first rounders and when you have the 16th pick in the draft, you might be drafting a 2nd round player.. So there is no value there
5. Mention how this draft has 40+ 1st rounders grades on players
6. this guy oozed experience and intelligence..

**THere is more I'm forgetting, Heading out to the gym.. Bang my head around and will come up with the rest..

I know there was tv camera's there. So I'm wondering if it will be on tv or just a couple of quick out takes.. Hoping i get a little TV time since we were in the 1st row ;)

** Quick Bruschi thing - he said he rather be a rookie under Parcells than BB.. Parcells would just scream at you, if you had tough skin, you'd survivie.. But BB has "OPTIONAL" practices for Rookies.. He said the only option is Vets get to go home and Rookies have to practice.. Bruschi said its a complicated system on both sides of the ball and everything is thrown at them from day 1.. (he was saying this in a joking manner but he definitely was providing some great inside info)

Awesome...

And I don't mind McShay, either. He is a local dude, after all.
