He's going to the Browns along with Sheldon Brown

I'm interested in what the Eagles get for draft picks. There was a discussion here on us giving up a 2nd round pick for Gocong..

I'm thinking Eagles get a 3rd this year and maybe a 5th or 6th next year..

Re: So long Gocong

Eagles acquired LB Alex Hall, a 2010 fourth-round pick, and a 2010 fifth-round pick in exchange for CB Sheldon Brown and LB Chris Gocong.
There you go..

Re: So long Gocong

I'm confused. Are either of these linebacker really any good? Seems the proverbial bag o chips would have been the biggest element of this deal.

People here love Gocong because eventhough he has been a bust or disapointment, the feeling was he was better suited for the 3-4. Granted that doesn't mean crap, but that possibility have this guy becoming the next Mike Vrabel in many people's eyes. I wouldn't have been upset if the Pats traded for the guy while not giving up too much, but I am not nearly as enamored with the guy as many others.

Re: So long Gocong

So the Eagles threw in their best Corner as well?!? What an astonishingly bad trade.

They'll have Samuel and Hobbs as starters next year

The Philadelphia Patriots.

Oh yeah, I keep up and I'm all for it. Any linebacker that might help. Just seems to me he's a throw in with a legit cornerback and still can only get two low picks and a LB that couldn't crack the lineup in Cleveland?

I've got Eric Alexander and a bag o chips right here, let's make a deal.

Best CB duo since Haynes Clayborn, according to some here.

Yeah, but if he's healthy at least EHIII will be affordable as a #2 and KR while they draft their #1 Samuel replacement of the future...LOL

Re: So long Gocong

One Eagles fan I saw on a different forum thought they might get a 2nd and Shaun Rogers for Gocong and Brown. I guess not!

Reactions after the deal was announced:
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME!"
"Wow.... did we ever get robbed on this one!"
"I just think the value we are getting in return for these guys is a joke."
"this just goes to show how far the Eagles' front office has fallen off"
"Get ready for 6-10 or 7-9 next year, if we're lucky."

Well, at least we're not the only fans that think our team is in trouble for next season...

He he.

The NFC East QB's will probably be chuckling away to themselves this afternoon.

If they don't go CB in the first round of the Draft I'll be shocked.

Haven't looked at Philly's draft pick list. Do they have any top picks we could trade Whilhite and Wheatley for?

The #24? :D

For the record, I like Hobbs hustle and kick return abilities, but he's always been a nickel, only started because every other corner was hurt. He's not smooth, he waves his arms and runs choppy and is a magnet for PI calls. Same as Wilhite, difference being we need a nickel and occasional backup, so he's fine. It would be nice to have Hobbs return skills, though.

Also Hobbs has a big yapper, which could be part of the reason we gave him away. If anyone is harboring the delusion that we really, really needed some fifth round picks, I've got some swampland in Florida for you to look at.

Rogers wasn't available at this time due to his felony incarceration for stupidity...

If they're unhappy now, just wait 'til they don't trade Donovan and he pulls something or they do and Kolb goes down... Honestly, I've never gotten the comparisons to this organization beyond Lurie and Kraft both got their start here as Pats fans.

Re: So long Gocong

Just thinking.....could this be a precursor to a McNabb/Asomugha trade?

It would make sense.

If not, it's utterly insane management.

Re: So long Gocong

BTW, what's with the Eagles' fire sale? Ok, Brown and Gocong aren't big losses, but they let several key players walk away by either cutting them or let them explore free aagency. They want to trade McNabb and possibly Samuel.
