Interesting pre-season slate/

Passing team. Best in the league.
Mixed team of Pass/Ryan. Mid-league team.
Running team (Bradford learning). Worst in the league.
Mixed team. Mid league.

Decent schedule.

week 3 St. Louis is going to a great game to watch.

Most likely: Sam Bradford against the Patriots starting defense.

Interesting how they've sort of broken away from the "regional" mode this coming preseason. In the past, they usually had the Redskins and/or the Eagles in addition to the Giants, because they were NFC East teams that didn't require much travel.

I'm sure this has been answered already but I haven't seen it. Why is it that we seem to play the Giants in the preseason every year?

Kind of a blessing and a curse that we're facing the Rams in Week 3. On one hand, we get to watch the Pats put a serious ass-whooping on them! But at the same time, what would our rookies and second year players be learning? Kind of like studying 1st grade math for an SAT exam. Oh well. All in all, good schedule.

I think it's because the league wants to continue the great Boston v New York "rivalry" even though it mostly applies to the Sox and Yankees. And also so that they can bring up the event-which-will-not-be-named.

My guess is that they get to have the whole NY/Boston rivalry thing without playing a team that they will see during the regular season. It's also probably the shortest trip they can take without having to play another AFC team.

It's the closest out-of-division, out-of-conference team, so it's sort of a manufactured rival. Any actual rivalry is dead at this point.

The only people that can remember the actual Pats-Giants rivalry for headlines, fans, and TV ratings from when the Pats were a new franchise in a new league, and the Giants were broadcast every week in Boston because they were the "local" NFL team are old enough to qualify to be an AARP member.

I'm pretty sure the NFL does something similar with other teams - for example Miami vs Tampa Bay ever year, St Louis vs Kansas City, etc.

Pretty much. The Pats were doing this well before that SB we won't mention. In fact in 2001 the teams were also going to play each other in a scrimmage, but the Pats had to forfeit because they couldn't field an O-line.

I'm sure the fact that BB worked for NYG for so long has something to do with it too. The league likes rivalries like that, but when the teams are in opposite conferences it's harder for them to meet in the regular season.

Likewise, the Packers open their preseason against the Browns, who just happen to have a new GM named Mike Holmgren. ;)

Just heard about this. I know when we hosted you guys in New Orleans we had a pretty great time, you guys were assume fun .
Was thinking about coming up for the game to see what the fans of New England have to offer and get some cultural experience about your state and fans.
I could get about 5-10 saints fans to travel to foxboro, you think its a good idea? I know allot of our fans want to visit your stadium because of the impression your conduct made on us.

If you want to visit then I say go for it. I'd say you may want to temper your expectations a bit though; let's a face it, a preseason game with starters playing only one or two series is not going to have the same atmosphere as a mid-season MNF game between two division leaders.

But if nothing else I'm sure a few days away from the mid-summer southern heat and humidity will be a welcome break for you and your friends.:D

Foxboro ain't no New Orleans, buddy. You could have some fun in Boston. And you'll learn all about what a Mas$hole is.

A pre-season game isn't nearly as exciting as a regular season game, but there should be some enthusiasm since it's the first one in the past 8 months.
