the rumor is that he was with Belichick and Caserio in the North End last night....is Billy B just trying to drive his stock up so someone else takes him much higher than he should go or is he thinking outside the box??

maybe this is BB way of driving up his trade value if he is available at any of the Pats picks and there is no one the board the pats covet.

I think Tim Tebow could be a solid addition to this team. But if they take him and its not in the 4th round or later I'll strangle a baby.

I've never seen BB crush so much on a player so I could definitly see it being smoke screen.

Tebow was in S Florida over the weekend for all day autograph promotion and Charity dinners. The radio guys (including Gator haters) that hosted the events gushed about the guy like I have never heard before. Apparently the most positive and good natured guy they have ever come acrossPeople waited for 7 hours to get his $160 autograph...and were thrilled...go figure

Belichick and Urban Meyer are close friends, and BB has probably met Tebow more than once prior to this year. Meyer and Tebow are very close, like a father-son relationship. My guess is that BB is trying to help his friend out, offer Tebow advice, and drive up his perceived value. I think if he was truly interested in Tebow the meeting would not have been as public; I think Belichick would have been far more guarded in his interest and attempted to keep the meeting private.

please tell me this is the biggest smoke screen in NFL draft history?

something's up or BB is being the biggest $$$$$$$ in the league. Would BB really invite a guy to dinner just to feign interest in him? And if it's a smokescreen, the rest of the league would know it - Brady has 4-5 years left so Tebow has no place on this team as a QB.

this makes the most sense

How do you know that?

Brady might want a monster contract, he might prefer to finish out his career on the West Coast where his son lives, he might get even more injured, etc.

You don't know what the future holds, Tebow might be drafted simply as insurance and if the team doesn't need it they can trade him at a gain.

I think this may be about right. Tebow asked Bill for advice before deciding to return for his senior season, they obviously know each other already.

A plausible story is BB taking Tebow out of sight for a couple of days, talking to him about Brady and how to be a great NFL quarterback, introducing Nick Caserio to him over dinner for the pleasure of meeting a young man like Tebow. Part ways on a good note with the understanding that the Patriots won't be taking him unless he drops into the 4th round.

Only one problem: this is valuable time that Tebow could be working on his passing footwork. So I'm still not sure.

Can whoever moved the last Tebow to dinner thread to the draft forum merge this one with it...pretty please....

I know it could be Gholston V2.0

On the Sports Hub Zolak was talking about him as an H-back/fullback, TE, special teamer and ohh yeah 3rd string QB behind TFB and Hoyer...this is getting interesting

Shouldn't an insurance policy to your star QB be a little better than a college QB with awful mechanics, no experience under center, and no experience in a pro style offense? I'll agree that predicting Brady's future is silly, but taking on Tebow as the heir apparent to Tom Brady is suicide.

brady WILL retire a patriot. there is no way he's leaving next year once his contact expires. besides, i don't want to share him with any other team. ;)

I think BB is a better judge of QB talent than either of us, and if Tebow is a bit of an insurance policy or a developmental project that will later be traded at a gain then maybe we should assume he's a bit more talented than you give him credit for.

If this is just an elaborate smokescreen I would say they're laying it on a bit thick at this point.

Another possibility is that the team wants him but just not now, if he goes to Buffalo he'll suck and confirm the opinions of all the naysayers, maybe in 2 years we grab him from Buffalo for a 6th.

Hoyer is ahead. I think the whole "favor to Urban" is the most likely scenario.

I am pretty sure BB would love having Tebow on the team : but the other teams won't let him slide enough for BB to be interested. NE does have several 2nd rounders, but still... is 2nd string QB (at best, yet prob 3rd) our most pressing need ?

BUT... he is quite religious... pretty sure BB considers that a strength...

Didn't they also have a lot of interest in Pat White last year?
