I'm not a big fan of McNabb, but he's a lot better than Jamarcus. Do the Raiders rise to mediocrity in 2010?

Hopefully McNabb plays like crap in Oakland since he doesn't want to be there.

I'm going to look as the glass as half full. Raiders trade multiple draft picks/players for McNabb. McNabb blows out his knee in training camp. Team doesn't have the new draft picks, nor McNabb and finish 3 and 13. Patriots pick FIRST and LAST in Round 1. Dreaming, nothing more than dreeeeeeeeeeaming, trying to forrrrrrrget my..............la la la la. :)

Let's just hope that trade doesn't go through. The Raiders have a fair amount of talent, to be honest - they are just a disaster of an organization, though. McNabb would be enough to turn them into a .500 team and pretty much destroy that Seymour trade.

the coach still stinks, and the QB (mcnabb) is the problem in philly......

it really depends on what the raiders would give up////////

+1

McNabb would easily make them a .500 at worst, they are playing the NFC West this year, so no great shakes there. The Raiders have a decent defense led by Seymour and Asmoungh. Now if they have McNabb, they still have McFadden they could easily be a .500 team. I can't see Mr. Burns admitting that Russell is a bust this early, that is a ton of money to just basically flush down the toilet, because you could not trade him for a ham sandwich at this point.

i think oakland will win 8 games this year even with out McNabb, that draft pick i don't see as being a top 10 pick.

I think Al will make any deal to make that draft pick worse. Not to win the whole shebang, but to sandbag that 1st rounder. I don't expect a Seattle '06 level of luck for them. Last year Janikowski was the best kicker. He needs to stop that crap. That's worth like two games right there. If he can revert back to 75-80%, then even with McNabb they only have 8 wins at best. With McNabb I don't think we have a top ten pick, but it should be top 15. 1st overall was probably out of reach anyway.

Edit: Looks like a near concensus of 8-8 so far.

It is premature to think 8 wins for the Raiders without McNabb. If projecting ahead, look at their 2010 opponents.

Away: KC, DEN, SD, SF, ARI, JAX, TEN, PIT

Chiefs are the only team Oakland will play on the road that won fewer games than them. They will play 7 road games against teams that won at least 8 games.

Home: KC, DEN, SD, SEA, STL, MIA, HOU, IND

Admittedly softer home schedule (again, this is on paper as of right now); the Seahawks, Rams, Chiefs are 3 games against teams that were worse than Oakland. But Indy, Houston, Miami, and all of the division games will be tough.

Hard to see see how one can project them to do anything better than 2-6 or 3-5 on the road with those opponents. They would have to then win at least 5 games at home to get to 8 wins. This opinion finds it more likely to lose 5 of those home games than win 5 of them.

The Patriots are still going to get a top 12 pick at this rate, conservatively. It is a McNabb trade that could be a wild card toward getting the team to 8 or 9 wins. This opinion finds it more likely that McNabb is the starting QB for the Eagles next year.

McNabb is a free agent after next season, most teams would NOT trade for him unless they could get an extension signed. But then again who knows how long the labor strike will last after next season or if the franchise tag will still be there after the new CBA is signed. Al is taking a huge risk if he makes this trade.

Yeah, I agree with this thinking. Although I don't imagine McNabb automatically making them a playoff team, he can help them get 7 or 8 wins for sure.

Even if we all can't agree on the potential record that OAK might have with McNabb, I think it's pretty much fact that we lose 6, 7, even 8 spots in the draft--very important spots in the first round. Let's hope it doesn't happen.

Seems like Andy Reid is following BB's lead--better to get rid of a guy a year too early than a year too late.

Al's getting to the point where he doesn't even buy green bananas any more.

I hope you're right, and hopefully this trade doesn't go down.

Two things need to happen for the Seymour trade to have a chance to be successful:

1) The Raiders must finish with a top 10 pick.
2) The rookie salary slotting/cap/re-structuring must go into effect by next April.

Of course, obviously, the player we draft must turn into an impact player - that goes without saying. That's a lot of ifs to trade your best defensive player going into an offseason in which you have a lot of money available to spend, and no cap.

The Raiders could be a 7 to 9 win team this year..they are loaded in many areas....except QB and Bradkowski could be another underated QB like a Matt Schaub type,so who knows?

I would bet right now our #1 from the Raiders in 2011 will be in the mid teens area

Interesting that there are people on this board who see the Raiders as a .500 team and also view the Patriots in the same light.

Teams usually always at the bottom sooner or later will rise and some teams that are always at the top at some point will fall, its inevitable...So someday the Raiders could actually be better than the Pats....maybe not this year but sayin...

I like the way you think. Singing, now that's another story...

Just to clarify, is the rookie salary cap going to be in the 2011 draft?

if it's not, I'd rather low teens (11-15) then 1-5.

Wow. That Seymour trade just keeps looking better and better...
