There is already a thread for offensive prospects for our 7 picks in this round. Please start posting your late round gems forthe defensive side of the ball on this thread.

I'll start posting mine tonight but those who want to get started, please do.

Clifton Geathers DE South Carolina
massive wingspan but little experience

A.J. Jefferson CB Fresno State
good returner and great leaping ability

I like Geathers ability to play the run. In the 3-4 if he can anchor and free up the ILB's to clean up the trash, he adds instant value. However in obvious passing situations, he will need to be taken off the field.

I do not know about gems, but I think DE's Deaderick or Washington, both of Alabama have the skills and 3-4 experience necessary to contribute immediately in our 3-4 defense.

Good call on Jefferson. Geathers too, but I don't think he'll be around then. Jefferson could make the team on special teams ability alone, and could potentially be a starting cornerback.

Others I like in that range:

DEs Sean Lissemore and Robert Rose
NTs Martin Tevaseu and Ekom Udofia
ILBs Brandon Sharp (Love his production...2 inches taller and he's a 1st-2nd rounder) and Mike Johnson
OLBs Eric Moncur, Aaron Morgan, and Dane Fletcher
CBs Aaron Berry, Patrick Stoudamire, Jerrell Norton, and Richard Sherman
Ss Barry Church, Stevie Brown, Brad Phillips, and Cody Grimm

You don't think with his size he could move inside and disrupt the passing lanes?

Some defensive guys who I think could help us in the late rounds are:

1. Kyle McCarthy, S, Notre Dame - This guy just makes plays and seems to have a nose for the ball.

“He’s made game-changing plays, seal-the-victory type of plays,” coach Charlie Weis said. “You can’t give him enough credit for that.”

2. Arthur Jones, Syracuse - depending on how his knee checks out he was fun to watch and I though a sure first rounder at one time.

3. Brandon Sharpe, Texas Tech -This guy reminds me abit of HOF'er Fred Dean. He uses his hand extremely well to go with his non stop motor. Please do not ridicule me as I realize it is hard to compare a 6th round prospect to a HOF'er.

DE - Doug Worthington - 6'5"/292 (5.02)
ILB - Kavell Conner - 6'1"/242 (4.59)
CB/FS/WR - Richard Sherman 6'3"/190
DE - Lorenzo Washington - 6'4"/285

Josh Morris, CB, Weber State. Lockdown corner.

Robert Johnson, FS, Utah. Productive, smart, rangey.

Chris Maragos, FS, Wisconsin. Productive despite not being a starter, stellar Pro-Day.

James Ruffin, DE, Northern Iowa. Solid all round game, athletic.

Barry Turner, DE, Nebraska. Unheralded thanks to Suh and Crick. Solid at a high level.

Danny Batten- S.D. State
Antonio Coleman Auburn
Daniel Te'O-Nesheim, Washington

Time to start throwing darts and see what sticks...

Some former highly rated prospects, they may have reached their peak in college but for a 6th / 7th round pick I would take a chance:
George Selvie, DE\OLB, South Florida
Myron Rolle, SS, Florida State
Sam Shields, CB, Miami
Micah Johnson, ILB, Kentucky
Doug Worthington, DT, Ohio State

Come to think of it, there will be a lot of strategy around the signing of UDFAs. Hopefully the Patriots can be proactive and put the heat on the final 8-10 rosters spots. I wish they could bring 100 players to camp.
