Brady and McDaniels hated each other... [Price: No sign of it from players]

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

That is interesting.. he was 29 years old at the time, wonder if that is one of the underlying reasons not to appoint coordinators..

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

Word up is that Josh joshed Brady about that infamous 'lamb' picture...

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

hate is a strong and misleading word
but yea funny in retrospect

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

I love seeing Coaches leave here only to struggle esle where; they bring our system and our philosophies with them but never quite achieve. KC next year should be interesting with Weiss and RAC trying to 'get the band back together'. I don't think that plan will ever work, it's not only the fact that BB is an incredible coach but that the players bought into his ideals. The patriot way is only as powerful as the player in the uniform.

As long as we have BB and TFB were really the only team who can sell that idea, doesn't mean well go 12-4 next year: but we have a chance to.

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

well that was three weeks in 2005....then what happened?

typical shoddy reporting from Klis.

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

I could understand in 06 if Brady was pissed, he was throwing to shoemakers...

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

The article makes a great point of saying guys like McDaniels and by association Mangini are trying to pull off a "Belichick" type of stance and attitude, but it doesn't work because those guys don't have the weight of being the head coach of three SB victories behind them. Therefore the players don't buy in. Interesting.

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

So Brady and McDaniels weren't snuggling up to one another and sending each other butterfly kisses for every minute of their relationship. Stop the presses!

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

But what about 2006 and 2007?

Exactly. Imagine a quarterback having a tiff with his OC. Brady's bad attitude has obviously been the real problem since '06.

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

It is simply human relations 101. A young quarterback and an experienced coach that has coached every offensive position could form a coach player bond. A Player who has been phenomenally successful told to take orders from an intern who has not?

It's all right Ken O'Brien (is that right, or is it Joe Schmoe?) will take Brady under his wing and get him back to a balanced, efficient approach to the passing game.

And i wouldn't worry about McDaniel, Belichick admitted he tried to be Bill Parcells before he found his sea legs in New England.

I guess the Patriots coach isn't Ken, he was an obscure, but at least legitimate QB of the Jests.

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

Should've traded Brady in 2005. I knew it.

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

I'm not even sure if I believe this happened or not. Though this alleged incident is the sole focus of the column in Pro Football Talk, when I go back to the original story in the Denver Post it is a minor portion of that column, with nobody quoted as a source. I would have thought something like this would have been more publicized; maybe I've simply forgotten reading about it over the years.

Here's the link to the original story, which is all about McDaniels and Bronco players. The article focuses on whether veterans should be treated differently versus treating everybody the same, touches on problems with 'McDaniels players' versus 'Shanahan players', a first year coach commanding respect, and attitude in the locker room when a team is losing. The part about McDaniels and Brady is almost irrelevant to the story and could easily have been omitted.

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

Brady and Weis were close. 05 was Brady's first year without Weis and the team had some fits and starts en route to winning the division. No real surprise that Brady and McDaniels didn't get along all the time. I'm sure that changed over the next two years.

Actually, Klis did a balanced piece that noted how things worked out okay, it's Florio with his standard one cheap shot fits all twisting things.

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

Paymeaton Manning runs probably the most consistent offensive system year to year. Of course their system is simpler and he's totally in charge.

They have two offensive coordinators with 60-70 years combined coaching experience, but they are largely superfluous because, as everyone knows, you don't need experienced coordinators.

Exactly. I haven't clicked PFT ever since Florio's hatchet job on us during CameraGate. Why Patriots fans continue to visit, and thereby increase the ad revenue of, his mongering website is beyond my ken.

Re: Brady and McDaniels hated each other....

I heard of this b4..... I knew there was bad blood initially.

I disagree about the coordinator part. Us losing experienced coordinators hurt a great deal on the offensive side of the ball.:(
