I am happy to be alive and back

While I know some of you would rather me go away forever :),I am glad to still be alive today and able to log onto patfans which will have to be my entertainment for quite a while.

This past thursday morning on my way to work from breakfast,I was run off the road by an elderly driver who did not see me coming into his blind spot,I swerved to avoid a collision and jerked sharply right but then my car fishtailed out of control across a 4 lane road into a ditch and stopped after the passenger side hit a huge solid dirt and rock mound, thankfully there was only me and no passenger who certainly would have been crippled or died.

Here I am now with a lip busted in 4 places which the force of my head actually bent the steering wheel in half and worse I sustained a severe painful broken pelvis to my right side which will keep me bedbound for 2-4 months.

Sorry to waste a spot on the main forum but just how glad I am to not only remain a Patriots fan but an ALIVE Patriots fan, someone up above must be wanting me to be rooting for the team once again this season.

Just remember today could always be your last day,so root for your team everyday, you never know when your time as a fan can run out,it can change your perspective on life and everything you normally do everyday that we all take for granted, like walking for instance which I can no longer do until at least summer.

Regards,PATRIOTSFANINPA

That's amazing. I'm glad you are still alive and able to log on to patsfans too. I hope you don't have any long term health issues from that. Get well soon.

Wow, quite the close call there PFinPA - best wishes to you for a speedy recovery!

Yeah,If my car had not spun around at the last seconds before impact at 50MPH and hit the driver's side instead of hitting the passenger side, I would most certainly had a good shot of not making it - the passenger side was destroyed with the roof caved in like a sardine can and the door bashed in and glass everywhere - this was a small Honda Civic Hatchback from the 90s with no airbags and I had no seatbelt on :bricks:.

Sometimes you just know there is a higher authority not ready to take you away, not to mention that for some miraculous timing, there was no cars on any of the 4 lanes which is rare on the road which is usually very busy near noon time when it happened, certainly could have been a horror for me and several others, not just myself.

Glad you are doing well. I wish you a speedy recovery. Definitely not made of glass! :D

damn dude, take it easy and have a good recovery

Glad to hear that you're alive! I suppose the internet, the Patriots, and TV will be your main entertainment until you recover from your injuries. Oh just a tip for the wise, don't break your TV if you don't like how BB drafts... he's always a tough nut to figure out on draft day. But usually it turns out ok. :) 2009 was a pretty good year, we need another solid showing in 2010 to build up the foundation of this team for years to come.

Terrible ordeal; hope you enjoy a speedy and full recovery.

I guess there is some good news out of all of this,I have and will lose more weight as I only have enough space in my mouth to fit a straw for liquids only which should last another week and on top of that I will be able to see the whole draft on TV whereas normally I couldn't.

Last week I looked at some players in the draft that I would be extremely concerned over if BB took them, now I don't care, just get us some fine players,Im lucky to be able to just see it happen and don't care anymore who we take.

Glad everything is ok and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Some suggestions...

1. Have your wife practise doing the sponge bath thingy on me so she doesn't injure you. What are friends for?

2. Liquids thru a straw. I recommend a fine single malt scotch before bedtime.

3. Bedridden and TV...
Book series the "Prey" police procedure series of books by John Sandford

Index - Books

Michael Connely's Harry Bosch books. Most libraries have both series.

Michael Connelly's Book Collection

Creative excellent writing, a touch of Stephen King supernatural and Sci-Fi, books by Dan Simmons

Dan Simmons - Author's Official Web Site

Get the 1st 5 seasons of LOST on DVD and watch it if you haven't. It will keep your mind occupied with other things.

Good suggestions...except the FIRST one ;)

As far as DVDs go,I am going to go the comedy route to keep me not thinking about this and I have the 9 season boxed set of Seinfeld which is my favorite all time show, so thats probably the way I will go

As for TV,I am an avid watcher of most programs on TRU-TV,I like the Prisoner Lockup shows on MSNBC and I like Pawn Stars and American Picker on the History Channel - those should waste time in the weeks ahead

...Thanks

Sorry to hear about this, but glad you're still kicking. Here's to a speedy recovery, we're glad to have you back!

Glad to hear you made it out in one piece dude. I wish you a speedy recovery as well.

Wow, definitely glad you're O.K. Considering the severity of the injuries you sustained, you're fortunate that it obviously wasn't worse and I definitely hope you're able to fully recover and start feeling better.

Life is definitely short, and having lost a couple of friends in the last few years I definitely realize more and more each day that life is short and can end any time. Each of the people I knew who passed in car accidents woke up that morning having no idea that day would be their last - so for that I'm glad you're here and that day for you won't hopefully be for a very, very long time

Dang dude, that sounds like a horrible accident. Glad to hear that you survived it and it sounds like you are keeping a positive attitude. NFL Draft less than a month away!

A thread like this certainly puts our petty squabbles into their proper persepctive. Sorry to hear about the accident and that you were badly injured. Best wishes on a speedy and full recovery.

Wish you a quick recovery.....and the patience of JOB for your wife :D. I had surgery in December and was house bound for two weeks. I drove my lovely wife crazy because I couldn't do anything physically, so I just followed her around all day long. Fortunately I got better and she didn't kill me....
