How About A Wide Receiver at 22

B) While we ABSOLUTELY need an OLB, I suspect that those available at 44 may be as good prospects as those available at 22.

C) We could certainly trade down if Odrick and the blue-chippers are gone.

I wouldn't be upset if they took Golden Tate at 22, definitley Dez Bryant if he is there at 22. If Brandon graham is there they can't pass up on him. Also, If Spiller falls they should take him.

Why cant Thomas come in and play right away. Williams is also a great choice with one of our first two seconds.

I'd be happy with the Bryant pick if we had to. The others would be a reach, but IBBWT. I'd expect a WR to be taken in the 2nd round instead. Plenty of good ones that you mentioned. Though one benefit of taking a guy at 22 is there is one less WR for the Jets to take

Yeah def not. I have seen mocks with him going to the pats but I doooubbbt it. I don't think I'd want to trade up to get him either.

Mayock and the boys think that Thomas from Georgia Tech is ready to start. He broke his foot so there may be no 40 time by the time of the draft. Some suspect that if he is able to fully work out at his pro date, he will not be available for us at 22. I tend to agree.

I agree that Bryant should be long gone.

Since Bryant isn't likely, I would go with Thomas. By "come in and play right away," I hope WelshPat means only catch 20-30 balls. That's what Demaryius Thomas or Damien Williams would give us. Except Thomas would out match his opponent physically. I wouldn't expect more than 30 catches at around 13ypc from any of the WRs being mentioned.

Epic meh on the receivers. If they can get a legit Split End, I'd be happy, and think Gillyard can be that guy. I like Bryant but hate his attitude. I like the kid from GT (name escapes me right now), but think he is a flanker. Tate seems like a dope athlete and is incredibly appealing. However, I think his best fit is as a Y or Percy Position motioned from the Y to the backfield and vice versa. Great player, tough fit.

Damn, I remember that. I was so pissed when that happened. Luckily, they drafted some German in the late 2nd named Vollmer.

I don't know who's better, but Vollmer is better value.

Vollmer has the chance to be a HOF tackle. Oher has the chance to make a handful of pro-bowls. There is no tackle drafted in the past three years I would rather have than Vollmer.

I'd rather a Damian Williams type in the 2nd round or an Andre Roberts in the 4th. I'm all about maximizing the value. Receiver at #22 doesn't strike me as max value. Let's trade down if that's all that we have to choose from.

I moved to Thomas as my #1 pick about a week ago if his speed is legit; I realize he can't run right now but was said to be running under 4.5 before he broke it and I saw him run away from DBs plenty last year.

If this is Moss' last year here, I would prefer to draft his replacement now so the new guy isn't a rookie in 2011. Assuming Bryant is gone, Thomas is the only potential #1 WR I see and, again, I like the idea of getting him a year before Moss leaves.

If that doesn't work out, like others have said, there's a ton of solid choices in the second round but probably none with stud potential except maybe Benn.

I was listening to Sirius NFL Radio the other day and Johnathan Dwyer (rb, Ga Tech) was being interviewed. He was asked who the best athlete on the team was and he said, without a doubt, it was Thomas. One of his nicknames is "Calvin Jr", as he was thought of as the next Calvin Johnson when he was recruited to Ga Tech. Dwyer said you just didn't see it because of the offense they ran. He was described as a "freak" and someone who will do some "dirty work" in the run game as well as make "the best catches you'll ever see." I recognize that these are the words of his teammate but they were still encouraging nonetheless.

I'm not sure I'd take Tate at 22 as I think he may be there later, but the more I learn about Thomas, the more I like.

2011 is a MUCH better year for wide receivers. If you want to spend a 1st round pick for a WR stud, save it for then. In 2010, I just want to stop the bleeding and get a competent #2. Damian Williams or someone of his caliber should be able to step in and do that in round 2.

The Pats need a Deion Branch type from the 2010 draft, not a Randy Moss because... we still have Randy Moss. We can go fishing for a #1 type in 2011 when there will be a lot more studs to try to reel in.

The problem then is if Moss is gone after 2010 then you're counting on a rookie to replace him. If you think Thomas is a #1 potential WR, even if he's not Green or Jones of 2011, I'd take him here and have him a year in when Moss is gone.
