Given the strength of this years draft, if the chance comes up to trade one of the #2's into next years draft for a #1...

would you?

No this years draft is much better than next years. i would trade Our #1 pick next year for a 2nd and 3rd this year. Oaklands #1 next year could be a top ten. Take Oaklands pick trade down and aquire more picks next year.

I would trade this year's #1 for next year's #1 and a #2 this year.

Who is on the board and which team is offering?

Absolutely not, we already have 2 1st rounders next year, one of them probably being a top 10 pick. Like you said this draft is very deep, a lot of the 2nd round picks are first round quality. Why would we want to give one of those up especially with as many needs we have on the team for the 2010 season

Agree with a combination above, it depends who it's with and what the total offer is. But, say Cleveland wanted Colt McCoy and offered one of their #3s this year and their #1 next year then I probably would do it as we'd still get a good prospect now and a shot at a high #1 next year. If it were Indy or N.O. then I would need a lot more back.

I side with this logic as well. This draft is ridiculously deep and the Pats needs are many.

I think it's more likely that, if the player we like isn't there at one of our 2nds (or we think we can get him with the next one), we'd trade it for a 2nd next year and a 3rd this year to get us back in the 3rd round.

That sounds about right to me, especially if the 3rd we'd get this year would result in moving down less than 20 slots.

I'd be very happy if BB just uses this year's first four picks on quality players who can immediately contribute.

Obviously depends whats on the board but I can see some logic to doing this.

1) If there is a rookie pool next year we wouldn't be hamstrung by too many 1s

2) if this draft is as strong as stated and next years in turn weaker than it would be good to have 3 1s next year to ensure a good draft haul next year. And if this year is so deep than we should be able to find good talent deeper in the draft.

again I think it is important what talent is left. If we fill a few needs and the one big hole we would still like to fill has been drained than maybe it would be good to trade it to next year.

That's what we need seeing we didnt really address any of our needs through FA. I would expect us to use our 1st rounder on a defensive end/OLB that can get after the QB. Then in the 2nd round use those picks on a WR, TE and either CB or OL depending what kind of value is out there and who is available.

Same here. We're talking about a draft that we've heard is the best in 30 years, and that has 50 players worthy of 1st round grades. Given we have 4 picks in the top 53, I think our value couldn't possibly be any better. And given that we have some pressing needs, I don't see any reason to trade picks into the future. I can see us trading down from #22 and getting a 2nd and getting into that 3rd round, but unless a team really gives us an offer we can't refuse, I don't see why we'd move into the 2011 draft given the historic depth of this draft.

Exactly how I feel. There's great value in the 2nd round this year, but having 3 1sts next year is too tempting to pass up if we can get a good deal.

Just think about adding three of these guys next year: Robert Quinn, Patrick Peterson, AJ Green, Jonathan Baldwin, Mark Ingram, Cameron Heyward, Adrian Clayborn, etc; pretty nice, huh?

I would be shocked and dismayed if BB rolled over any of our top 4 picks into next year.

However, I would not be shocked if he traded back from 22 for a 2 and a 3 if all the super studs were gone.

No.

But I would trade next year's Patriots #1 for a #2 in the 33-48 range.

there needs to be a little more detail before this is proposed......this will likely only happend during draft day, so it depends on a couple of things.....

- who the pats have already drafted
- who that can help the pats is left on the board.

I could see it happening......especially since the picks are relatively close together......I think when the picks are close together in the 2nd round, there is a bigger chance the teams pulls something stupid like drafting brace

having 3 first rounders with one, two, maybe even all 3 picks being in the top half of the first round could stand to get the pats a huge infusion of talent, and even gives the pats the opportunity to use a pick on getting a guy who is restricted in some way......

to many factors involved to simply say yes or no right now

That might be true of the depth of the Draft, but not with regards to the first round.

Next year's first round will be sick.

Hard to say. I don't think so, but imagine having 3 #1's in a year when there's a rookie cap. That said, maybe all those great #1's and already available this year as #2's.
