Video: Jets are AFC East team to beat - AFC East Blog - ESPN

"ESPN's Chris McKendry and Mike Golic discuss what AFC East team has fortified itself the best so far this offseason. Golic likes the Jets because of their running game, great defense and the acquisition of cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

"Basically, it's 'Mark Sanchez, don't screw it up,' " Golic said."

As of right now the Jets are probably the team to beat, I expect that to change and so should other Pats fans before the season starts.

The Steelers were the team to beat at this point last year. Big deal.

Just the way Belichick likes it ... any of the other 3 or other 31 teams is the team to beat.

Why of course... the Jets beat the Patriots... on paper.

They won't have the #1 defense in the league again and the running game lost it's best player.

Yes, they were handed a playoff spot last year. But they made it to the AFCCG. We washed out in the first round. What mediot would pick otherwise?

Sanchez could very well "screw it up", since I don't think he's that good.

IMO if we try to fix the pass rush and WR problems with draft only the JETS very well could be the team to beat.

We will see, right now it looks like the Jets have pulled ahead of the Patriots on paper, this is not a completed project.. things will be clearer in November/December...

Or by the end of training camp...

Adding Cromartie is one of the reasons making them favourites?!

The Jets definitely are better on paper right now. BB is gunna have to have an amazing draft for us to pass them.

But...but...but that means that the ESPN experts were...wrong last year  How can that be?????????

Whoever they add/lose makes them better than us.

When they signed Lito Shepard instead of our signing him, that made him better than us.

Now letting Shepard go is irrelevant but signing Cromartie makes them better than us. (If we signed Cromartie, all we'd hear is how he flashed for a brief period in one year and hasn't done squat since.)

Who else did well his rookie year? Edelman. But wo here is allowed to say Edelman will be good based on his rookie year. The trolls will scream HOMER! Yet they think Shonn Green will be better than Jones based on HIS rookie performance which was not so nearly as remarkable as Edelman's. Rookie RBs don't have a big learning curve, they hit their stride right off the bat. Rookie WRs generally don't do well their first year but do better their second year. Yet I don't dare give my opinion about Edelman.

Funny how a double standard works.

Shonn Greene is a FA? We gotta go pick him up...

Shonn Greene was a bruising back in the playoffs against defenses that had played an entire season while he was on the bench

not saying he wont be good but dont thing that was a preview of what we are going to see all next season

as of right now if i had to pick between the two for one season i would pick jones

I love it when media people start giving division titles in March.... Still have the draft and a few other things before the season starts..

It's meaningless at this point. But, I can't argue with what Golic said. As I've said for the last few weeks, there's a long way between now and Training Camp and we still have #12.

Exactly. It's a well known fact that an entire season including how a team will do in the playoffs won't be known for sure until after the first quarter of the first pre-season game:rolleyes:

Let me also add that the team that will win it all is determined by which poster comes up with the best arguments on a fan forum, long before the actual season begins. that's an awesome responsibility!........just kidding ;-)

I dont understand how a team that got a free ride into the playoffs, with a horrible qb, is "the team to beat".
