Says Mel Kiper. Yes, they need major infusion of talent at WR, OL and LB, but above all need a serious attitude adjustment, as the team looked "disinterested" in the Baltimore playoff game.

Never thought I would hear that said regarding a Tom Brady led team.

First of all, no quarterback has ever been the leader of the defense, no matter how good they are.

Second of all, is this actually a new sentiment? The owner of the team himself said exactly these things yesterday, and only confirmed what had been talked about since the first quarter of that game.

How does a team look disinterested? Is Mel Kiper the expert on discerning how a team looks?

But like he and the panelists noted Brady can't lead them alone. You need a core of leaders and lacking that you see the frustration Brady was clearly displaying down the stretch last season as he practically begged guys to step up and sack up and focus and execute. Welker was preaching the same sermon. Faulk finally threw a nutty on the sideline, but that was too little too late. The defense was never heard from unless you count AD's rambling finger pointing at the system for causing all his troubles...

did you see how much work he puts into his hair?

no, wait, that doen't have anything to do with it.....

Kiper can't even do his own job well

Ahh the age old question what came first the disintrest or the 3 score lead?

There were obviously attitude issues last year but I think Kiper is greatly overstating the concern. As the young talent developes more I thinkl the attitude things will take care of themselves along with a little purging but lets not kid ourselves into thinking that this team has a serious attitude problem that will require a massive overhaul from the to compete.

the defense needs LB's who can lead the defense

They weren't disinterested in that playoff game, they simply knew that they were not good enough to make it and win the Super Bowl, so they intentionally lost that game vs. the Ravens so they could not have to be held down with limited FA movement that the final eight teams had to endure and what better way to be sure you are going to lose than to be down 24 points early in the game?.

Is it that hard to understand Mr. Mel Kiper?

I know we are all "homers' here so we never want to agree with the media types, but how could a team look more disinterested than the first quarter against Baltimore?

I'm not sure disinterested is the best word over sluggish though, but I think you understand his point.

packing it in that early regardless of the situation is pretty bad.......

they should all be beaten like they were at gitmo

Kraft does not care about that playoff result anyway, all he wants is the $300+ $$$ that each ass in those playoff seats gave to him in revenue....not to mention the Beer and Food sales and the $40 Parking Fee

Its all about money in New England anymore from the Owner down to the HC who has lost his marbles and down all the way to the QB Brady who has more involvement with his modeling body and his family than to worry about 50 overpaid chumps in a locker room.

Championships are not of any real meaning or need anymore here,we already won three the last decade,we are in for a revisit from the early 90s starting this season.

SO they threw the game so fans could rip them for not signing Free Agents?
I think your conspiracy theory needs some work.

Count Chocula has a point on this one. The team looked seriously lost in that game.

I agree. The team looked like they didn't care in the B-more game.

How is John Cena's finisher going to help us?:D

I dunno, personally, I think Mel's using a little too much gel to hold that hair helmet of his in place. Maybe he could grow a mustache and then gel it into place to look like a faceguard?

If he got a crew cut, he'd look like a combo of Theissman and Johnny U.

Just sayin'

Mel certainly isn't always right but he is right on this one. I'm kind of surprised anyone would disagree with it. Then again I think some posters would dispute a member of the media saying the sky is blue if they thought he meant something bad about the Pats.

How about someone actually addresses the subject of what he says?

What we need to do this year is to draft high character, high motor, high work ethic players. Lazy players are not required.

Agreed.... NE was terrible on the road. We need an influx of young hungry willing talent. Vince is going to step up and be a leader for the D. What the offense needs is a new approach. Get back to being physical and hammer the ball. Way less shot gun!!!! No one respect our offensive line on a physical basis.
