CFT: Gator WR slams Tebow, glad to have a "real QB" now

Hasn't Vince Young been to two Pro Bowls?

Oh yes. Pro Bowls. They're completely not popularity contests.

Running QBs who don't develop passing skills may have a few good years but by the end of the season they break down and in the playoffs are nearly worthless.

I would not pin my long-term hopes to a QB who can do nothing more than run.

But if we're talking crappy throwing mechanics, Vince Young doesn't apply. He has a funny motion, but he gets the ball out quickly and his height doesn't allow a lot of balls to be batted down.

Tebow takes t h i s l o n g to throw the ball, and he slings it from his side. His height does not allow him to get away with slinging it sidearm. Also, Vince Young is a better athlete and was a better quarterback than Tebow in college. I'm no Tebow basher, but I'm a realist. I just don't understand why everyone gets so caught up in intangibles that they are willing to overlook that Tebow's skills don't translate. Intangibles are what separate people with equal skills. Tebow is a great college QB, but this whole "being a winner" thing does not necessarily translate to the NFL.

Troy Smith was seen as a "winner."
Ditka drafted Danny Wuerffel because he was a "winner."
I'd rather draft someone who has the skills to compete in the NFL right now, unless Tebow slides to round 4 and on.

You do know that he's tightened up his throwing motion a good deal, right? I think he's going to continue to work on it until it's outstanding, that's part of why Tebow's intangibles are so outstanding, he's not going to be satisfied where someone like Vince Young had to be benched and humiliated before he started to take his game more serious.

pros about tebow for us..although i dont think we will pick him or should.

hardworker
godly
priorities straight
leader
winner
wildcat
implement sum urban spread in the nfl
versatile qb, h back
patriot type of guy
good publicity for pats
tough

He's absolutely right. Brantley is a better pure passer than Tebow is.

Herc! Are you really going to use Ditka's drafting decisions as an argument for anything, pro or con?

Well we know Tebow won't be a Dolphin either

I think the Dolphins might actually be a team that has the creativity to draft and develop him. Assuming they can get Pat White and Tebow enough reps to be comfortable throwing the ball they have the potential to produce a nasty offense.

After what Henne said, I find it difficult to think that the Dolphins will be the ones to draft him. My bet is that the Jaguars move back into the second round to take him.

I don't think Soprano would care what Henne says, he's from the Parcells school of coaching, if they decided to take him and run a super-wildcat Henne would do what he's told or be out of a job.

Teach White how to play receiver, teach Tebow how to play fullback. Can you imagine the trick plays they could pull off with 3 QBs on the field at once?

Oh yeah! And Ronnie Brown too! x10!

I think Sparano would potentially shy away from a draft pick in the second round if it came down to potentially doing damage to the overall morale of the locker room, like this draft pick could potentially do. Parcells really likes Henne supposedly, and I don't think that it would be anywhere near that cut and dry. "Do as your told or you're fired". On top of that, like I said before, I expect Jacksonville to move into the second round to take him. He's a local fan favorite from his high school AND college years and Weaver honestly believes that Tebow would increase ticket sales. It's pathetic and desperate, but it's honest.

Real classy move.
