It was a pretty forgone conclusion we were ,but the jets will be hosting a t- day night game, and they were the other team playing the lions... So its offical we will be on Turkey day... I still think we will be opening the new medowlands, unless it is miami.. But I think we will open at the nyj on mnf, host indy sometime in nov on sunday night football, and the turkey day game will be the only prime time games ... which is fine with me sunday's at 1 or 4 work for me...

Works for me, it's an equal short week for both Detriot and NE but gives us a bonus half bye for the following week.

As a Canadian, I love the thursday Thanksgiving games. I must book this day off when I go to work this morning.

Jets' hosting of Thanksgiving night game means Pats will play Lions | ProFootballTalk.com

I doubt it, personally; as Peter King noted yesterday, every non-divisional home game the JEST have is against a winning team, so pretty much any opponent would theoretically result in a decent game. Also, the Patriots had the MNF game last year, and I doubt they want to do it again this year.

Haha, yeah same here. I definitely feel a nasty head-cold coming on...

That's the noon game? Usually right during dinner.

I may have to host thanksgiving this year to control the day's agenda :)

it could be a 6 pm game here in Italy-love it

Ugh, midnight here.

Damn it! I didn't want the Pats to play Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving games suck. Basically no matter how you plan it, it conflicts with dinner and most of the people at the house don't want to watch football. Luckily, I am hosting this year and in my family it is house rules. I guess it is a buffet dinner with me sitting right in front of the TV. I wonder if I can get away with ribs and beer instead of Turkey and wine.

Would be fun to go to Detroit for a Thanksgiving game.

Great news, not only do we get to watch the Pats on Tgiving, but the team has a nice long rest before the next game, most likely an important one going into the stretch. And playing the Lions on short rest ain't a worry especially with them also on the same schedule as us.

I hate the fact the Pats are playing on Thanksgiving. Why? Because teams don't get a bye the previous week. So they have to play on 3 days rest and preparation. It's unfair to those teams.

The league should really make it so the 4 teams who are playing on Thanksgiving have a bye the previous week.

They're playing each other, it's equally "unfair" which makes it fair. We then get a half bye week before the next opponent. I think it's a distinct advantage to get the Thanksgiving game.

Unfair for the Lions!!! They have to play the Patriots:)

Even if the Pats r relatively weak (compared to 03-07 08 was a good year..... TFB was out and we still contended.

As a Patriots fan you should like this, we dont need more than 3 days to prepare for the Lions...

This gives us pretty much a 2nd bye week during the year and it comes at a good time right before the stretch run...

Won't be seeing them in Indy this year..this may be the closest the Pats will get to Indy (outside of possible playoff games) so I'm considering going.
Speaking as someone from Plymouth Mass originally spending Thanksgiving in Detroit is about as unorthodox as it gets...after all what could you possibly be thankful for in Detroit?

I don't know which will be more delicious: Thanksgiving dinner or watching the Pats pwn the Lions. Either way, it will indeed be a great turkey day!

Yeah nothing gives me warm memories of thanksgiving than going to downtown detroit... :D

Except for the reason I would be there you know the football game. I have been watching this game my whole life it would be pretty cool to see it in person. Nothing else about Detroit excites me but it would be cool to be in person for a Turkey Day Game.

This works well for me, and if there is a conflict with getting ready for dinner.. can TIVO and skip all the commercials.
