Guregian: Thomas says he never said he wanted to join the Jets

i have to say he said all the right things. and i can't see a reason why he would want to be cut he is makeing more then any other team will pay him as a FA

Yeah right. I'm sure chubby rex is on speed dial. He didn't work out for us but I really don't want to see him on the Jets, especially the two times a year he would actually try his ass off to stick it to the Pats. Let him rot as long as you can.

Of course, he HAS to deny saying it. His idiot pal Bart Scott is the one who reported it to the press and if Jabba Wrecks somehow gets implicated there could be hints of tampering.

Yeah, he didn't say it like he didn't know the off season program started yesterday.

He won't show up until he has to. And it is in his best interest to behave himself to facilitate a trade since it's unlikely anyone including Tubby is going to voluntarily hand him $4.9M as a street FA. In fact that could cause more disruption in the JETS locker room than it's worth. Tannenbaum actually took out an ad this weekend in the KC Star saluting the 1400 yard rusher whose $$$ he instead spent on LtD in some feeble attempt to smooth ruffled feathers in their locker room over that veteran fiasco.

I doubt it. Any team that grabs him in waivers will be on the hook for $5 million.

You honestly think that's a lot of money for a 31 year old starting pass rusher? His salary at this point is not exorbitant.

Based on his production last year, I think it is. Not De-wreck Burgess exorbitant, but exorbitant nonetheless.

Tunescribe & Mo are right: Afailus is not saying what he believes, and not believing what he says.

It amuses me that the Jets have been involved in so many tampering allegations over the past few years, while the league average during that time for tampering allegations is functionally zero.

This is pretty much right on par.

He's not the type of guy that would care about that type of thing first of all and second of all WANTING to play for the Jets has 0 implication of tampering, and certainly isn't anywhere closed to the amount of incredible evidence you need to prove tampering.

The most likely scenario is they were chatting it up as pals and as is common with friends, hypotheticals get brought up and AD mentioned he wouldn't mind playing for Rex again. The quote from Bart Scott doesn't even come close to saying "I want to play for the Jets". It's one of those context missing leaps that is made frequently. "Likes to play for Rex -> Rex coaches jets -> wants to play for Jets".

I even pointed out at the time the titles and leaps were crap, he never said that.

i don't think 5 million is a lot for a good pass rusher that can get 6 to 8 sacks a season.

but AD had 34 tackels and 3 sacks will starting 11 games and playing in 13. im not sure any one would want to pay 5 million for that.
