AFC East Offseason: Chad Pennington Comeback POTY Campaign HQ - The Something Awful Forums

File this under the where are they now files, but two time Super Bowl champ David Givens is apparently a contract painter in Massachusetts now and has a job at the building I'm paid to watch over. He locked himself out with his stuff inside, and I wasn't allowed to let him back in.

Huh, with all that money he made signing with Tennessee, i hope he made some wise investments rather than blowing it all.

I imagine the problem would be that even with "wise investments" he probably lost a ton. Anyone investing in the 2007/2008 timeframe would. If you assume 40% or so went to taxes, a decent amount was spent then about half was lost through investments, the remains is probably a lot less than we might think.

I don't think it is a big deal. Micky Ward does paving, Karl Malone drove a truck across country in the off season just to have something to do.

We don't but I do wonder how many athletes were "set for life" with all their money in reasonably safe stocks then . . . boom. Half of it was gone.

I think Givens has a bunch of different business interests. I know he is starting a health food/juice bar somewhere in the Southeast MA area.

No matter what he's doing, I hope he is happy and healthy..

It's a very valid point.

I must also point out, though, that 99.9% of the posters in SomethingAwful's football forums hate the Patriots with unbridled passion, for whatever reasons.

Here's a couple of news sources a bit more legitimate than your "somethingawful.com" poster.

Former Patriots star David Givens turns to art after career ending injury - Quincy, MA - The Patriot Ledger

Former Patriots receiver Givens emphasizes education - Marshfield, MA - Marshfield Mariner

Really folks, it's very simple. All you have to do is a 20 second internet search instead of propogating misleading gossip. How hard is that?

Looks like he's doing just fine dabbling in hobbies, restaurant ownership and charity work.

We don't but I do wonder how many people in general were "set for life" with all their money in reasonably safe stocks then . . . boom. Half of it was gone.

I modified it to a more general, and arguably more true statement
