#22 Jared Odrick, if he is there he has to be the pick. Sergio Kindle, is also a opt.

#44 Arrelious Benn, he would be a realy good #3 WR as a rookie and in a year or two when moss, is gone he will be the #1 Jerry Hughes, is also a opt.

#47 Rob Gronkowski, pats need a TE and at 6.6 264lbs he gives brady a big body to throw to. Jonathan Dwyer, is also a opt.

#53 Ricky Sapp, the only 6.4 250lbs OLB left in the draft. cold turn into a realy good pass rusher for the pats. Koa Misi, is also a opt.

#120 Austen Lane, DE/OLB would add good dept as a rookie and in a few years could be a realy good OLB. Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, is also a opt.

#160 Matt Tennant C could be a starter in a few years for the pats. Marcus Easley, is also a opt.

#193 Myron Lewis, CB can all so play FS would be a nice dime back. Thomas Austin, is also a opt.

#208 Andre Dixon, RB Deji Karim, is also a opt if he is there.

#233 George Johnson, DE/OLB 6.4 268lbs maybe BB can turn him into a good football player.

#235 Rusty Smith, QB

#255 Nathan Overbay, TE

what do you guys think.

Hm. I don't see Matt Tennant still on the board at 160. I think he's gone in the late 2nd, early 3rd territory. Good center/guard prospect. Also, I don't believe we have a pick in that range--what am I missing?

I'm not a big fan of a lot of the players you selected, but they do seem to be reasonably good scheme fits with solid talent and upside. I do have a hard time believing we'll take three DE/OLB conversion players, though I wouldn't be oppose. Good effort. :)

yeah we have 116 and 280 and then 213 as it stands now.

but i love the picks.

I like it but I am one of the few who also likes Sapp.

im a huge fan of benn, to the point where i wouldnt be mad if the pats took him at 22
i doubt hes there at 44

Like the following picks...

Odrick, Sapp, Gronkowski and Dixon. Therefore, I would be very happy with this draft. Is it realistic? We will only know on draft day, won't we.

P.S. The only players that I wanted and the Patriots actually drafted includes: Darius Butler, Ron Brace, Vince Wilfork, Ty Warren, Terry Glenn, Andy Katzenmoyer and Drew Bledsoe.

I like your draft. I disagree that Odrick has to be the pick if he's on the board, but I do feel like he's the likely Patriot pick if he is on the board. Something to keep in mind on Gronkowski: he did not work out at Arizona's first pro day and some scouts believe he's hiding the fact that he's still injured (draftinsider.net). I would be a little worried about using a 2nd round pick in a deep draft on a kid who already has back issues, but I do like his talent. I think Tennant goes earlier than you have him, but I wouldn't take him any earlier for the Pats. I think you can probably get Rusty Smith as UDFA. I was listening to the Kiper/McShay podcast and they both agreed that the QB's would drop after the last of Jarret Brown/Tebow/Etc goes off the board. Similar situation to last year where guys like Hoyer, Chase Daniel and the kid from Eastern Washington were all thought to be drafted (and many before the 7th round) and all went undrafted.

Seems like Odrick is the consensus on PatsFan, which means he will not be the pick :p hahahaha

I would like misi instead of sapp and, and ILB danny batten instead of george johnson........I believe with 2 OLB prospects drafted ahead of him by the pats, that johnson would get lost.........batten looks like the kind of guy who would be a better special teamer while developing

If Batten really does run a 4.6,then ST would be perfect for him while he learns the base defense.

Well thought out Mock and I really like the Dixon pick. I also think you may be on to something with Rusty Smith.

Fun stuff, but we all know that predicting the Patriots draft is well neigh impossible. Just predicting their first pick is close to impossible.

What we can predict is that they will go into the draft with 4-6 need areas. When their turn is up, they will look at the board, see if any of guys available are a good value at their need position and pick one or trade down if there is no match or there is no drop off after a few slots later. Trading up is even harder to predict but as guys come off the board they look for bargains that match their needs and try to make deal. So if Joe Haden slips to 19, the Patriots will jump (wishful thinking on my part; he will never get past the Raiders at 8).

The top needs are:
OLB
DE
WR
TE

What they have at RB, DB, OL are serviceable and they will not pick one early unless a bargain falls in their lap.

At about round 4-5 anything is possible and they have a lot of 7's so it will be a huge crop and a lot of diversity.

Other than Benn I like this mock and the alternatives. I'd be happy if it fell ike it did.
