OT: Thomas Jones to the Chiefs

Cassel has proven he's top 10 starting QB in this league when surrounded by good weapons - the RBs will help, but quality wideouts must be added. He's a very likable guy and I think a lot of Patriot fans here still root for him.

That offensive line sucked ass last year, too. O'Callaghan was, far and away, the best RT the team put on the field last season.

That's not a good thing, given his lack of playing time in New England.

I think they have some quality at WR...the OL is what they need to get back to the playoffs.

Cassel was pretty inconsistent here but he did show flashes. He made 1 or 2 plays a game that made me go WOW. He had a hard time throwing the deep ball. Was that a problem when he was in NE?

As a follow up to your post and mine, the Chiefs just signed 37 year old Casey Weigmann to compete at the center position. Niswanger was absolutely brutal at the position last season.

His touch on the deep ball is not great. It didn't help in K.C. that Bowe isn't really able to get deep separation. You probably noticed that his deep throws looked a lot better once Chambers arrived on the scene.

It is possible that behind KCs O line that TJ will revert back to the 2007 TJ that we all thought was washed up when he played behind a bad Jets O line.

Chambers stepped in nicely when we got him and i think he can be a solid 2 for a few more years. Bowe i like, but it seems he can only catch a ball when hes triple covered, which is nice, but you gotta catch the easy ones too. Wade was pretty solid but we put him at pr and he was TERRIBLE. We have lance long, the castaway from arizona. Hes pretty speedy but he has bad hands and is tiny.

The oline was god awful but it got better towards the end of thw season. Haley made albert lose some weight because he wanted him to rely on technique rather than being big. He struggled early on but got better. Im very comfortable with him at LT going forward. Waters was good at times/ bad at times. Niswanger the C is really bad. Idk why we still have him. Thatll prob change come draft day. Rg was average. Ocallaghan was below average.

If we draft okung i will be sligtly mad, but itll make the line betrer. Im hoping we can get berry, because our safeties need help. Mike brown is literally the worst safety ive ever watched. He probably cost our team at least 10 tds.

What's the deal with Brandon Albert? Bust?

The new regime had him drop a lot of weight and it took him a long time to regain his strength. They also made a lot of technique changes that took him a while to master. I wouldn't say that he's a bust. There have been rumors that the new regime views him as a guard or right tackle, rather than a left tackle, though.

I touched on it in my previous post. Haley wanted him to use technique rather than to just "get in the way" so albert lost 30 lbs i believe. He struggled alot earlu on but improved the last 6 games or so. In now way is he a bust imo. I dint believe okung will be the pick.

It WAS the problem here. Cassel is good, but just not in the elite class of QB's. Probably could put him in Bledsoe's category.

They do need a right guard, no question about it. Waters is about the same age as Weigmann, for that matter. It wouldn't be shocking to see 4 of the 5 lineman be turned over by next year, or even this season.

Waters is 32/33, weigmann is 37. The consensus arounfd the chiefs forum is that we will draft a center, let him sit for a year so weigmann can coach him up, then start him in 2011.

Waters is 33, so I shouldn't have lumped that in with Weigmann. You're right on that. It was too far a gap. He's old, Weigmann's ancient, according to NFL standards.

As for the rest, the Chiefs should continue to be interesting to watch. I enjoyed following the moves last year, and this year should be even better.

Also, it will be interesting to see if Brown gets a shot at guard this year.

Just as a P.S., Larry Johnson has reached agreement with the Redskins.
