Opinions on trading a pick for Dwayne Bowe?

In the Boldin trade, the Ravens gave up 202 draft points for Boldin and 29.8 points. The trade value of Boldin was a net 172 points.

Pats trade their 2nd 2nd round draft pick, no. 47 overall (430 points) for Dwanye Bowe and the Chiefs 3rd round pick(250 points). The trade value for Bowe would be 180 points equivalent to a mid 3rd round pick.

The Pats would have Bowe for two years at base salaries of $600,000 and $690,000.

To me this is an ideal trade, and I'd even consider doing the deal for KC's 4th and Bowe due to his reasonable contract status over the next two years. I know Bowe has been out of favor in KC and KC could control the 2nd round with a 3rd 2nd round pick.

If that happened I wouldn't complain. I like big WRs and at 6'2''-221 he definitely fits the bill. I hope they take a WR with one of their 2nd rounders and the only onethat really excites me in the draft is Demaryius Thomas. The odds of him being around when our 2nd rounders come up aren't great.

The only problem I have with that trade is it sounds too good to ever happen. I rate Bowe very highly and I would be willing to give up what the Ravens gave up for Boldin to get Bowe. I didn't want Boldin by the way.

I don't think we need another underachieving WR who can't run. I'll pass at that price. I'll give a sixth maybe.

He can't stretch the field, so he's not the guy we need to open up the underneath zones, and his hands are unreliable. Essentially, he's a slower Ben Watson.

bowe would cost more than boldin.....you're getting the same WR who's also a deep threat, you're getting 2 years without having to extend ......

probably cost you at least a 2nd straight up.....but I would do it in a heartbeat

what you don't get is that he is a middle route guy like deion branch was....he's outstanding at getting behind the LB's

He's not going to catch half of 70 balls on this team. In KC he was option #2, behind Gonzalez. There was no option 3. (Seriously, who was there...Devard Darling? Terrence Copper?).

He'd run into the same problems Galloway did here, not being in the right spot at the right time for Brady to trust him. He uses his size, and not any kind of route-running ability to get open. He's just not a good fit for this offense.

Are you really comparing his game to Deion Branch's? Branch ran some of the best routes ever seen in Foxboro, was shifty, and made some great yards after the catch. None of those things apply to Bowe.

bowe actually runs decent routes.......not as well as branch, but then again, nobody does, so you're not going to find that again, but the comparison is to what what part of the field he works which is the mid range which is a perfect complement to the deep threat in moss and the short game of welker edelman.

I think my Galloway comparison in regards to while he'd fail in New England is as perfect as it gets. Also feel free to substitute Donald Hayes. To be a WR on this team, you have to have Brady's complete trust that you'll be where your supposed to be at the right time. That's why Galloway and Hayes failed, and Aiken, amongst other reasons. You have to make the same reads, the same sight adjustments, and be precise. It's why Givens and Gaffney were successful here.

This is not Bowe's game. If the Patriots got Bowe, he'd likely be strictly a red zone target, which isn't the ideal use of a 2nd round pick.

Frankly, I think we'd come out well ahead if we used the 2nd rounder on Golden Tate or some other WRs instead.

I would take this guy in a heartbeat. He's not as slow as some people believe, but he's not a burner. I'd say he's a similar player to Boldin but not as brutally physical. He's not afraid to go over the middle, has good leaping ability, and is a big target.I think he'd be a great fit opposite Moss to run those intermediate routes.

This belief that we need another burner to stretch the field is one I do not support. I think we need a guy in the Boldin/Bowe mold to line up outside who is physical, goes over the middle, can fight off the jam well, and works the intermediate zone of the field well.

Moss and Welker have been studs because those characteristics don't describe them.

Watson fits those characteristics and he is NOT returning to Foxboro.

What does that tell you?

It tells me the type of WRs Brady likes have success, and those that he doesn't can just get lost, just like Joey Galloway.
