Re: Brees says Patriots could regret passing on Boldin

regardless, the pats haven't gotten better one iota from last year.

If it was Brees saying this (like the thread states) I would care.. A local media guy saying this, could care less..

Re: Brees says Patriots could regret passing on Boldin

We are where we are because in part due getting older piece in instead of drafting them for 3 yrs before last year.

I think brady is going to resign and its time to think long term and say we need players who can be good for 5-6 yrs of his career not bandage fix for a yr or so.

look at peyton garcon, collie and to a level the 1st pick WR from 2-3 yrs are going to be with him till the end of his career. wayne is the only older guy who will fade towards the end of peyton career.

brady has moss who is in the back 9 and wes who is injured. its time to develop some guys.

We have work to do but we had more draft picks last year than most teams so we will get better based on those players presumably taking a step up and we also have more draft picks than most this year. Plus FA is still early.

No he isn't - although he may re-sign :)

Re: Brees says Patriots could regret passing on Boldin

Why would we care what Drew Brees has to think about Boldin. Shouldn't he just enjoy his Lombardi Trophy and stay out of our business?!?

Seriously, I would have loved to had Boldin, but the guy comes with a lot of risk. He has chronic hamstring problems, other injuries, and plays with reckless abandonment. WRs like that can flame out pretty fast.

Two years from now, the Ravens could be the ones regretting winning out for Boldin's services. Then again, he could be a perenial Pro Bowler too. It is a gamble with a lot of upside and downside.

I hate this media hype.

Next well know Peppers was the fish that got away, and Dansby.

That's not really true, if you subscribe to the theory that young players generally improve as their careers progress.

Re: Brees says Patriots could regret passing on Boldin

my thoughts are if Boldin goes down who do the ravens have Heap?

It's not even Brees, it's Albert Breer.

LOL....It was Breer not Brees...typo :bricks:

Re: Brees says Patriots could regret passing on Boldin

Looks like Peter King and Breer are ready to define the Patriots offseason as a failure because they didnt get Boldin. Check back in on May 1st.

I know. It was joke. Should have put a smiley face icon after the statement. Why would Drew Brees care if the Pats passed on Boldin?

I'm sorry but Breer is living in LaLa land. He expects the Patriots to tie up $20 mill in 2010 for 3 WRs...16 % of payroll. Must be nice to shop in fantasy land.

And, just like that, Breer goes from being a solid journalist one day to "living in la la land" the next. So goes another day at PatsFans.com.

Breer is right by the way. The Pats very well could regret passing up on Boldin. Whether they do or they don't strongly depends on the moves they make for the remainder of the offseason.

I don't like the idea of Boldin at all. He has been injury prone the last few years, hits 30 this year and in fairness he has Larry Fitz in Arizona which made his job a lot easier.

So, in other words, some decisions / non-decisions could turn out to be wrong in the end. Ground breaking.

Seriously, I have no problem with his opinion, just that he gets paid to say they COULD regret it. Grow a pair and tell me they WILL regret it, Breer, or shut up.

Sure they have.
A healthy, got the rust off by playing the entire 2009 season, not distracted by having a baby in the bathtub in 2010 Tom Brady returns, a healthy Jerod Mayo returns, a good O line returns intact, a happy and signed Vince Wilfork returns and a head coach who will not have 2 poor coaching years in a row returns.
The Patriots are already better than they were last year and that's before the draft.
Do yourselves a favor Patriot fans and ignore the "we must justify our existence through our verbal flatulence" Boston mediot crowd.
They live for snap judgements and the sky is falling hysteria.
The Patriots will be just fine.
Relax Patriot fans!
