The Pats offered him an one year deal last year. I wonder if they offer him another one a year later. The guy had a decent year last year. Could be a situational edge rusher.

Wow,Wonder if its an injury issue...The guy certainly is worth a look

Re: The Raiders release Greg Elllis

I would be on board with this. Rather have him than Green, Jason Taylor or Porter.

Re: The Raiders release Greg Elllis

They also released Javon Walker. If this keeps up, AL won't have much of a team by training camp.. but that might be an improvement for them..

the pats maybe better off with bring back Derrick Burgess, he is 3 years younger and has a year in the system.

OOO! A big name receiver with the broncos that career died with the raiders. Should give him a look.

I say bring both in. Adalius should be leaving soon so he can help fill that role.

Re: The Raiders release Greg Elllis

I was all for bringing him in last year. Let's check him out.

Re: The Raiders release Greg Elllis

7 sacks - not too shabby. I'd definitely sign him to a one-year deal. Don't think he and Derrick Burgess are mutually exclusive.

personaly i think walker would be a better fit then reed hell i think they oughta go after both of them they would both make a perfect fit with the pats the raiders are pretty good at making good players look bad if yall know what i mean LOl

Did Walker ever recover from blowing out his knee? I feel kinda bad for the guy; seems like his career has gone off the rails ever since Darrent Williams died in his arms... can't imagine how messed up that must have been.

Re: The Raiders release Greg Elllis

Will he be under 2.5mm per, if so, sign him for 3 years with 3mmG. At worst it's a 3MM mistake, but the guy's got a lot left.

Uncle Al, everyone's least favorite uncle.

He probably would have come here last year but the Raiders just offered him crazy money if i remember, something like 5 million.

Ellis was a Parcells guy when he was in Dallas, and when Wade became the coach he talked about wanting to play for a winner alot... don't think he respected Wade, plus Spencer was taking his place. Obv, when someone gives you crazy money that all changes... this is a signing i could see.

7 sacks, how many were because of double teams on Seymour?

Forget Seymour, Ellis has averaged 7 sacks in his career and has averaged 8 in his last 8 years. He's 34 so who knows how much he'll have left but 7 sacks was lower than his previous two years so forget the Seymour love.

This might be a stupid question but I'm not sure what position he plays for us.

He's 6'6 265, is he a Jarvis Green type pass rushing 3-4 de? Or can he play some 3-4 olb?

if I remember correctly he was a down linemen early in his career but he was a 34 OLB in Dallas. Not sure where he played last year as I didn't watch the Raiders that much.

Not much out there so I see no reason not to kick the tires here. He and or Taylor plus a rookie to go with TBC and then the OLB position would not look so bad.

Once a pass rusher, always a pass rusher (until your body gives out). Some of it is just instinct.

Waiting for PatJew to weigh in..........:rocker:
