Havent heard much chatter but with Baker gone and Watson visiting other places the cupboard is bare anyone got any thoughts. Seems like we always need to address TE every season. FA market isnt to strong either....

My guess is the draft. i see alot of mocks have us taking Jermaine Gresham but i'm not to thrilled about us taking a guy in the 1st round whose had 2 ACL tears and cnt block. So I'd rather us take Rob Gronkowski in the second.

We are eliminating that position from our offensive formations... :p

There have been rumors about Olsen from the Bears being traded to the Pats. The talk increased once the Bears signed Brandon Manumaleuna.

Alge Crumpler,

Alex Smith,

L.J. Smith,

Randy McMichael,

just a few guys on the market and they could pick up Jimmy Graham, Clay Harbor, Colin Peek, in the late round of the draft. or if they are looking to give a 2th round pick on a TE Rob Gronkowski, or Aaron Hernandez,

it's a spot that brady will not throw to more then 20 times a season. so any good blocking TE will do

Move Sam Aiken into the position.

Sign a blocking TE vet, and draft blocker on day 2 of draft.

Pass catching TE in our offense is complete waste.

What good was drafting the fastest TE in the league, Ben watson ? Zip.

why don't you ask BB that cause the fastest TE in the NFL has only averaged 26 rec and and less then 400 yerds a year.

Jermaine Wiggins

This is actually a pretty good idea. He could be very effective motioning in and out of formations. I dont know about playing in a stance on the line, but he would probably do a good job blocking on th move or as an H-back. Plus you would have the versitility of making him a hot read on certain situations. Not to mention the roster spot. You get a TE/WR/ST all in one. I like it. Sprinkle in a good blocker and a development pass catcher like Graham in the draft and your in business.

This is as good a time as any to point out that last summer we gave away Dave Thomas for the last pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. :(

I think adding a receiving TE would help...
But I have no idea what BB is doing if this is true:

Ladanian Tomlinson Signs with New England Patriots | Sportales
LaDanian Tomlinson was the face of the San Diego Chargers franchise for years, but he will be wearing the uniform of the New England Patriots in 2010. It was announced Friday that the Patriots had signed the future hall of famer to a two year deal.

There was a great deal of speculation as far as where Tomlinson would land, but New England wasn’t really a team that had been mentioned to date. It should be a good fit for both teams; the Patriots should have a solid offensive line, and sharing the backfield with fellow future hall of famer Tom Brady should help.

Bill Belichick apparently campaigned for the Patriots to sign LaDanian Tomlinson; the Pats desperately need a premiere running back in order to return to supremacy, and apparently Belichick thought Tomlinson fit the bill in spite of recent health issues.

Terms of the deal have not been announced as of yet.

This is also a good time to remind you that in 2009 Rd 6 we drafted Pryor, and Rd 7 Edelman, both of whom made the team and contributed.

Dave "Wendys" Thomas could not stay healthy when here.......time came to move on

lol that pretty much says it all lol he played like wendy when he was here

Just because Brady doesn't throw to them often doesn't mean we only need blocking TEs. Watson was useful as a decoy. I think the offense needs a seem splitting tight end. Blockers are easy to find. I'd like Watson to come back if the team thinks it's doable. Otherwise they should draft Jimmy Graham or Dennis Pitta or Jermaine Gresham or Hernandez.

Agree that Pats do not use TE's for receiving! Why have any of them when they are 40-50 lbs lighter than OL's? Why not carry 12 OL which will make for a great rotation on the o-line and would cover all but catatrophic OL injuries during the year as opposed to wasting three roster spots?

Actually it will be the saints 2011 7th round pick
