I feel like if we can address a huge hole on offense with someone like Marshall, it would allow us to focus more on one side of the ball in the draft (defense). Obviously we could use another WR, and maybe some depth at OL, but those can be addressed in middle rounds. Getting someone like Marshall would be outstanding for this offense.

Obviously he has character concerns, but don't we have faith in BB and TB? Don't you think they could help him keep his head straight?

Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic, but I really want Marshall here. He would seamlessly fit right into our offense.

What say you? What do you think the chances are? Just thoughts in general...

i dont like the character issues, thats my only concern

as a WR, i consider him top 5 if not top 3 in the nfl....he can be compared favorably to the likes of larry fitz and andre johnson, hes the same type of TOUGH, OVER THE MIDDLE, and FAST WR (not blazing fast, but still)

going back to the character issues....while shannahan was coach, i do not remember there being a problem w/ marshall, no character issues at all from what i remember, only since josh got there did those really become known (or i suppose exposed)

if thats the case, than brandon just has a problem w/ josh, and we can assume hell be fine as a Patriot, with brady and moss, and hell know that after a year, moss will be gone, and brandon will be the #1 on the team, and the guy is young, we could sign him to a 5 or 6 yr deal.... 7/8mil a yr?

I feel Brandon Marshall is a top 3 WR.

I don't see him coming here.

You're right about his acting out with McDaniels there. But I'm pretty sure he had off-field issues while Shanahan was coach. I guess he just didn't act out ON FIELD (practice, complaining, etc) until McDaniels took over.

I honestly think BB and TB could keep him straight. Call me a homer or being overly optimisic, but I really want him here. Am I letting his talent block myself from having an accurate opinion of him?

With him, the Pats would have best receiving corps in the history of the NFL...for 1 year at least. He has more talent than any1 they could draft with the 22nd pick so why not? The change of scenery may be all he needs! Surely BB and McD can at least discuss it. Oh, to be a fly on that wall...

I think it would solve a lot of our problems but i feel that guy wants to get seriously paid and to a level that means giving up a 1st rounder would make it not worth it.

What if gave up our 1st rounder for NEXT year since we will also have the Oakland pick?

I really feel like the FO needs to find a way to get him here. Sure he has issues, but how often does a WR with that kind of talent at such a young age become available?

And IMO, it wouldn't be a huge deal to pay him a decent contract since we have Moss coming off the books at the end of the year. With 2010 being uncapped, and then Marshall would essentially take over for Moss' as far as money alloted to our number 1 WR goes.

Marshall would be a dream in this offense with Brady.

It's not just character issues: it's the fact that McDaniels didn't think he was worth the trouble. If there's a coach in the NFL whose perspective on this stuff is aligned with Belichick's, it's McDaniels. So if McD says that he's not worth the trouble, then I'd expect Belichick to conclude the same.

And Marshall had plenty of off-field issues when Shanahan was coach, such as the mysterious hand injury that caused him to miss a bunch of time, etc. etc.

I would love to see him in a Patriot uniform!

I get what you're saying, but if that were the case wouldnt McD be putting more of an effort to get him out of town? I mean he's prepared to enter the season with him as his WR if he doesn't get a good return for him, right? He did so this past year. I think Marshall and McD just got off on the wrong foot and their relationship really soured right from the get go.

I'm not saying Marshall is this great guy who we have pegged all wrong, but I do think he could use a change of scenery.

That definitely could be the case, but it's too early to get a read on how hard McD is trying to get rid of him either way. It's just as likely that he's standing pat because he knows that Marshall's value will only go up once Bryant and Mason sign, and all of the WR-hungry teams know that they're looking at either drafting someone, signing a JAG, or trading for Marshall.

if the pats did not trade for anquan boldin, who would have cost the pats a 2th round pick and only 7 million a year. why would they give up a #1 and 9 or 10 million a year for a guy with off and on field baggage.

i think he ends up with the Seahawks. they will trade the 14th pick for him.

that could be bad for the pats. danver could take Dan Williams, and Jared Odrick, in the first round. and Arrelious Benn, or Jerry Hughes, in the 2th round.

For those of us not in the US, what was said?

None of us seem to be actually American, I think it was just to say that the Bengals have entered the mix. Nothing serious yet though.

He's got a lot of talent, but also a lot of baggage. Not exactly my first choice for an addition. Would rather go after Vincent Jackson myself if we are going to go after a highest tendered WR.

like people have said, his character concerns are too big to overlook

He's one domestic disturbance away from a long term suspension. On top of that, he and McDaniels are like oil and water. Why should Belichick consider bringing him in? No thanks.

Jackson is looking at a ban, DUI #2 I think
