I heard the news that JAX recently signed Kampman, so it appears that they may be stocking up on passrush type guys. Thomas might fit that mold for them. As for Groves, he has the athleticism but hasn't produced the numbers in their system. Could he better in the 3-4 defense? I really haven't gotten to see him play much so maybe some Florida natives who have watched Groves more closely could give us a scouting report.

Might as well try to get something for Adalius instead of just releasing him. I'd do the trade.

I'd trade Thomas for a 7th round draft choice, so I guess the answer is "yes".

I'd give Adalius Thomas away.

Just not to the Jets.

LOL, the thread title could have had any non zero quantity after "for" and I would have said yes.

7th round pick to anyone and 1st round to nyj

I would do that trade.

If I remember that he drew comparison to Terrell Suggs coming out of college.

Right, obviously we could put a condition clause on the trade that say, if AD played more than 2 games in the Meadowlands that the Pats would then receive a 1st round pick from JAX. I think that would strongly discourage them from passing him on to the Jets.

It isn't a done deal yet?!? What is the Patriot FO waiting for?

if anyone is willing to trade for a 32 year old LB that makes 7 million a year. you trade him for what ever it is

Unless AD and BB can kiss and make up, I'm all in!

6'3", 265, DE/OLB all-time Auburn sack leader with 26.
Drafted 52nd overall by the Jags who moved up 6 spots to get him. The Sporting News named him to their Top 25 college players in the country in 2007 (his senior yr). All-SEC, Bronco Nagurski award, Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year finalist.

Yeah, I'd take him but do you think AD is enough to get him?

OTOH, his nfl stats haven't been that great.

Isn't Groves only in his second year? Why on Earth would the jags do that?

Sure. He's better than a hill of beans.

I'd trade Adalius Thomas for a weeks supply of delicious bagel breakfasts.

If you'd give me someone half decent, its a no brainer.

I believe the comparison was "he's not going to be as good as Terrell Suggs."

Sorry.:p

No need to, the cba doesn't allow pass through trades to circumvent the final 4 rules.

I'd trade him for a conditional pick in 2011...

Rumor is the Jags are going to cut Groves. They made the mistake of drafting a guy that was clearly a 3-4 OLB and trying to play him at 4-3DE. I still really wish we had drafted Groves instead of Crable, we certainly had the ability to go up and get him.

So yes, I would trade Adalius Thomas for Groves - but if Groves is flat-out released, then I hope we look into him.
