WR needs

No way am I filling all our starting holes with rookies.

Starting OLB
Starting DE
Starting WR
Starting CB (Bodden's gone with Robinson's contract)
One or two starting TE
OL depth

Did something happen to Tully Banta-Cain and Pierre Woods? Heck maybe Burgess. We need rookies who will take over from those two.

And since we have no other options, we will have rookies starting at OLB as well. Not so sure about DE unless Odrick gets chosen, but Pryor and/or Wright will fill that spot in the meantime.

TE I can see going into FA for.

But like it or not, we have 4 picks that are the equivalent of first rounders.

Is Mason really our last best available FA option? How can we be sure he's not the next Galloway? To make it worse, Mason was never really a burner in the first place.

The only question is whether Mason is willing to come to Boston. Last time, he was not willing. It is not about money or interest by the patriots.

Because Galloway broke down the year before the Pats signed him. Galloway was a burner, but lost it. Mason always got separation by being a tough guy and positioning for the ball. So to answer your question, Mason is good at positioning for the ball.

Joey Galloway

After pissing away what would have been the perfect #2 in Boldin, my hope is as follows:

1. Deal our high #2 for Brandon Marshall, ink him long term, eat the heavy Moss/Marshall salaries for only one year and let Randy walk after the season, now we have the younger Marshall as TB's #1 to finish his career over the next 5 years. Hello Superbowl.......

2. Bring in TO and enjoy a circus-like, carnival-like, unstoppable offense for the 2010-2011 NFL season. How fun would that be. Deal with potential headaches and have a freakin ball watching this offense steamroll people, including the Jets. Doing this would require us to draft a Golden Tate or Damien Williams to groom into that #1 role.

3. Bring in Mason (and this is option 3). Although he's not Boldin, he would be a decent compliment to Moss and a proven vet who runs precise routes, gets open with good hands.

4. Option 4, do nothing, draft a WR and basically hand the Jets the division title, without a proven #2, Fat Rex will literally have his way with us. I can see the fat ba$tard laughing already as he's completely shutting us down with his revamped secondary and pressure defense.

I can't believe Pete Carroll would want a prima dona who fights with his coach, dogs it in practice cuz he's unhappy with his contract, etc.

Oh wait, I guess I can. Two words. Pete Carroll. :D

Galloway and the class of aging vets may of left of sour taste in BBs mouth. Though he hasn't done too well drafting WRs either.

Number 2 would be the best on the field, but people here are just scared of the chemistry. T.O would probably cost 4-6 mil, so money isn't a problem either. I hope number 2 happens.

Moss and TO? I think I would be more afraid of that than Moss and Mason. :D Number two option would give me a heart attack. :D

I think that we would be fine with Moss, Mason, Edelman/Welker and Patton/Tate.

I think there's a big difference between Galloway and Randel El or Mason. Galloway was around a lot longer. He was playing with the Seahawks back in the Kingdome in mid 90's. That was a long, long, long time ago.

Mason for example was a starter in 2000/2001. That's a lot less mileage.

What are you smoking ? Even with 3 2nd rounders, Pats will be lucky to get 1 good starter.......Their Rd 2 draft history is completely abysmal.

This team is heading into mediocrity and fast....There is no under 30 young playmaker on Defense, nor on Offense.

Mayo? Meriweather? Wilfork is under 30.

:)
I never pencil in potential draft picks. The patriots try to assemble a team before the draft, so that there is complete freedom in using the draft to secure maximum value.

With regard to Golden Tate, my guess is that he will be gone before we pick. If he were available, Belichick would probably trade down and let someone else pick Tate. I justy don't see using a first for a wide receiver.

No offense to Brandon, but he ain't Golden. :D
