From CSNNE.com:

Bring it on, Red Raider. Bring on the hate. I hope more and more people, and, more importantly, more and more NFL teams, feel like you do. I celebrate every piece of bad Tebow news. Everything and anything that might make him slip I celebrate, because then his odds of being drafted by the Patriots increase. I'm perfectly content with the Pats taking him with one of their three, second-round picks -- but if they can get him in the third or fourth, God bless.

Why I want him, in summation: Put him behind Brady for three or four years. Give him the Matt Cassel treatment. Teach him how to play in the NFL. In the meantime, he can help out in other areas (H-back, fullback, special teams, whatever). He'll take over the young kids in the locker room. Maybe he'll give Brady a little goose (I like the visual of Brady walking past Tebow's parking spot right next to the stadium in training camp). I don't see the downside. The Pats have taken plenty of projects in the second round. Guys like Marquise Hill and Ron Brace barely played as rookies. They took a project at quarterback in the third round two years ago (Kevin O'Connell). What's the big deal about a project in the second round?

Anyway, take a look at the picture. Admit it. He looks pretty sexy in that jersey.

And, FreeTedWilliams, I know you'll just love this pic he links to (on ESPN.com):

He does have a few very good points. I think the team, seeing someone like Tebow just bust his behind every day, would motivate them to step it up a few notches, and I'd put Brady in that category as well. The team would have been better off if he spent more time training and rehabing instead of taking Giselle's dog for walks and going shopping for her groceries, they have people for that, TB should have been working on becoming TFB again. With Tebow suddenly being the hardest worker on the team you might see Tom deciding to put in a few more hours here and there.

Tebow could contribute elsewhere on the team while being groomed to be a QB and he'd probably be more than happy to do that in exchange for the opportunity to learn under Brady and Belichick.

I believe one of the reasons why the team melted down so often last season was that they lost those vets who were their emotional/spiritual anchor at those tough points later in the game, guys like, Vrabel, Bruschi, etc. who have rings and know what kind of mental toughness it takes to get there. I think Tebow would help the locker room get some of that back: he's won college championships and has a fierce desire to win, his spirit would take over many of the younger players on the team, he would help bring back "The Patriot way" to the team.

there's 53 guys on the roster......they're not all going to be hanging around noticing how hard he works......this thinking is juvenile

not to mention the fact that he ain't going to poop out a pass rush

He'd be a leader, does having stronger leadership on a team help? Also, he could make some significant impacts on offense and also be a good special teams player, or do only pass rushers count?

For the sake of pets throughout NE, I hope to god BB stays away from this clown. I for one know I'd wouldn't have to worry about buying pet food anymore if we draft him. Might have to grab a new tv though.

I don't think Tebow is a better leader than Brady is. If anything Tebow would learn better work habits and leadership from the one man on the team that embodies it. Someone can work hard and often but not show improvement. Brady knows how to work to get better. The offense has leadership. The defense needs Chung and Mayo to step up in that department.

Does Tebow need to be better than Brady in order to benefit the team? Also, Brady was NOT leading the team during the playoff loss to the Ravens, Faulk was the heart and soul that day, Brady was just sort of waiting for it to end.

Here is Felgers downfall,
He says give him 3-4 years to learn how to play QB in the nfl. But while he is doing that, he is just going to magically become awesome at H-Back, TE, WR, all positions he has never played.
So, take a guy who has played QB his entire life and rebuild him like the million dollar man over 3 to 4 years, but while doing that, teach him in a day or so to become an elite role player at several other positions.
I cannot wait for the article 2 years from now saying the Patriots are not competing because of their draft problems.
Any pick before the 3rd round for an inpirational speaker is ridiculous.

Also,
just watching the nfl combine, I started to get annoyed with his "presence" and overall intagables. I think for some players his intangibles would get annoying after awhile.

No. Posters and Felger were saying that Tebow would show everyone how it's done. That's ridiculous. By the way, thanks for pointing out another player with more leadership skilss than Tebow in Kevin Faulk. Drafting Tebow with any oF our first three picks would be a waste. Regardless of his alleged interpersonal abilities.

First off, you are correct that Tebow is not going to come in and show everyone how to play but I think he will take direction and show everyone else what being an ideal student is. That's also a form of leadership, demonstrating humility by putting your desire to get better over your ego.

Faulk is a leader and I very much want him to be resigned yesterday but why do you think he has more leadership than Tebow, Tebow is, beyond dispute, the on his Florida team. It's not one or the other, we can have both Faulk and Tebow being leaders on the team.

I wouldn't spend any of our first 3 picks on him, I'd use our first pick in the 3rd round that we'll get by trading Thomas.

For those that have never played the game of football, it is nearly impossible to be leader in this game from the bench.

The best Tebow could be, is a leader of the backups.

Totally agree! I don't want anything to do with Tebow........

Never played football, but this holds true for any sport I've played.

And I don't know if Tebow's kind of leadership & image translates to the Pros. Especially in the NFL - will grown men take this guy seriously? How many self-professed virgins are there in the NFL? I'm just not sure how he fits in with the culture of professional spots - neither with the young guys who are probably going to lead a totally different lifestyle than him, or the vets with stable lives and families and whatnot. College is a very different world. This is a business world now, he isn't the big guy on campus anymore. If the main reason to draft him is for his college spirit and hoo-rah leadership, well then I think that stuff just isn't going to translate into the NFL.

He won't play (or at least much at all and definitely not at all at his preferred position).

IMO, you can't be a team or locker room leader unless you currently are playing a big role on the field, or at least are a respected veteran who has a major resume in the league. I think if he even tried to tell anyone on the team what they should or shouldn't do he'd get a cleat up the ass.

At best he'll be a cheerleader. At worst, his in your face attitude about his religion could cause the same divisions in the locker room as he causes on any internet messageboard.

FWIW, I suspect the average NFL player is probably more religious than the average American, not vice versa.

As a back-up QB Brady made points by correcting his receivers on routes and defensive reads, it's part of why he moved up and was the one waiting in the wings when Drew went down. Cassel was the same way (Flute says). These guys don't get the same level of respect as starters and regular on the field contributors, but within a certain window they are leaders. I hear all the chatter from former NFL greats about changing a QB's mechanics, and I don't know beans myself. If NE decides to take a flyer on Tebow later in the draft, I'm fine with the NE experts decision.

I personally think that Tebow will make it in the NFL, its very unlikely he will be ready to go from day one but the guy just has so much belief in himself along with incredible drive and determination that its hard to see him fail.

I would not consider it a wasted pick if we took him with any of our second round picks. I think his leadership and his huge appetite for the game will be a huge bonus to whatever team he ends up with.
