Washington took 3rd round supplemental

(Trade-Titans swap RB LenDale White to Seattle for a 4th round pick this year and a 4th round pick in 2011. Another Carroll alumnus goes to Pete)

(Trade-Panthers swap CB Richard Marshall to Patriots for CB Terrance Wheatley, a 4th round pick this year and a conditional 4th round pick in 2011.)

It's not perfect but oh, well.
Thanks,

I think my head is going to explode. after reading all 3 parts.
Help me out here, can you list all of the pats adds and loses in a post in this thread.
BTW funny that you've got Seattle looking like 2006 USC

76. TRADE (please follow closely) Rams from the Patriots (via New York Giants (8-8) Morgan BurnettFSGeorgia Tech=1) Giants Trade 3rd round pick #76 for Patriots DT Myron Pryor. 2)TRADE Patriots trade 3rd round pick #76 and home town RB Lawrence Maroney for DE Adam Carriker.

Myron Pryor is NOT worth a 3rd round pick.
The Adam Carriker boat has sailed imo. I'd rather draft Odrick.
And I'd take Ben Tate over Gerhart any day of the week.

I appreciate the effort, but a lot of the guys you are targeting are either bad fits, reclamation projects, or just not very good football players.
You made more sense when you were championing DRC at #7 in the 2008 draft. At least he looks to be worthy of the pick.

I appreciate the comments and agree with some you have said. We had a couple of decent reclamation projects in Mike Vrabel who languished in Pittsburgh and Rodney Harrison who was washed up as was Randy Moss. Ordick will never last until round 3.

If you look at the body of work between Tate and Gerhart, there is no comparison. We are talking about a fit. Gerhart might be the best RB fit I see on the board in the third round to fit the Pats profile. We cannot count on Maroney at the goal line and Sammy is just about done. This kid had 28 TDs last year in a tough conference. This kid led Stanford on his shoulders, he's smart, he is faster than Maroney at the combine (4.53 vs 4.55) and he will block.

If you remember after the pre-season the Pats already fielded trade offers for Pryor. The trade is fair from both sides and in this crazy Trade-A-Rama I did try to match up within reason. I like Prior. Other teams do too. Carriker was miscast as a DT in St. Louis and was asked to add twenty pounds. He never performed the same but he is still young at 25, his measurable s are through the roof and he should be healthy in 2010. If they Draft Suh, Prior can play under-tackle for the Rams and he is a fit. Let's put it this way. Pryor overachieved for his Draft spot and Carriker underachieved for a first rounder. Nobody knows if Ordick will be any better than Carriker and the past NCAA resumes say Carriker is the better player, but he did play decent his rookie year so he is NFL ready. I say Carriker is the perfect fit as a DE in the 3-4, and not a DT in the 4-3.

I have been wrong many times before, so.....

Red is who we get and blue is who we trade if this helps.
Thanks.

Round 1 (Thursday, April 22 at 7:30 PM ET)
22. TRADE-Redskins from Patriots (10-6) Colt McCoyQBTexas for TE Chris Cooley and Skins pick #37 in round 2 (amounts to a third round value for Cooley who had a broken ankle in 2009)
Round 2 (Friday, April 23 at 6:30 PM ET)
37. Patriots (from Redskins) Terrence CodyDTAlabama
44. Patriots (from Jaguars) Sergio KindleOLBTexas
48. TRADE(please follow closely)-Broncos from Bears (via Eagles) (via Patriots) (via Titans) =Patriots TRADE their 2nd round pick #48 plus S James Sanders for Eagles OLB Chris Gogong, Eagles 3rd round pick #70 and Eagles 3rd round pick #87.
53. TRADE (please follow closely)-Cardinals from Patriots =for QB Matt Leinart, WR Anquan Bolden, a Patriots 7th round pick, LB Adalius Thomas and a “Player to be named later”. Patriots TRADE OT Matt Light, and Matt Leinart to the Seahawks for ILB Lofa Tatupu and QB Matt Hasselback. Hasselback then goes to the Cardinals as “the player to be named later” by the Patriots.
Round 3 70. T-Patriots from Philadelphia – (via Seattle (5-11) Toby GerhartRBStanford
76. TRADE (please follow closely) Rams from the Patriots (via New York Giants (8-8) =1) Giants Trade 3rd round pick #76 for Patriots DT Myron Pryor. 2)TRADE Patriots trade 3rd round pick #76 and home town RB Lawrence Maroney for DE Adam Carriker.
87. Patriots from Philadelphia (11-5) Jared VeldheerOTHillsdale

(Trade-Panthers swap CB Richard Marshall to Patriots for CB Terrance Wheatley, a 4th round pick this year and a conditional 4th round pick in 2011.)

In trade we net:
TE Cooley (two time pro bowler recovering nicely from a broken ankle only 27)
OLB Gocong (miscast as a 4-3 OLB. Perfect for 3-4 OLB edge rusher with great resume in that only 26)
ILB Tatupu (Recovering nicely from pec injury. They have Hawthorne who they like at ILB only 28)
DE Carriker (miscast as a 4-3 DT and had to add 20 lbs. Recovering from a shoulder injury. Perfect 3-4 DE built like Seymour but faster and only 25. Was a highly sought first round pick)
CB Marshall (high quality RFA CB under thirty)
WR Boldin We need this signing.......

(We only had Lienart and Hasselback to do a swap)

Draft choices:
NT Cody (perhaps the most game changing pick in the entire draft. No 100 yd runner against Alabama in his career)
OLB Kindle (Beast=see Patjew explanation of beast)
RB Gerhart (28 TDs and carried Stanford. Much faster than thought)
OT Veldheer

(through round three)

We lose:
Light
Pryor
Wheatley
Sanders
Maroney

You have to give something to get something so these are not all one sided deals.

you need a degree in rocket science to follow this scenario.

wow....I just read all 3 parts and am really angry that I just had 10 minutes of my life stolen and will never get it back

Get over it, nobody forced you to read it.

I read it knowing it would be bad.

I over-estimated it.

I like the idea of getting Cariker. To me he is better suited to the 5 technique than the 3 technique.

Thank you. A man of reason.
Al of you out there. Tell me who our starting DE is after Warren? Anybody...anybody? Didn't think so. We are screaming for OLBs and we have only one true 5 technique DE. Wright has been better as a quick NT. Am I not seeing another lurking DE on our roster that can start? We have three NT types not including Wright.
Carriker can be had and he was misused in St.Louis. If healthy which he should be he is a 25 year old kid who could be great here and not playing a 4-3 DT.
