He's on with DeOssie and Butch "I have to speak over the expert" Stearns

Did he have any good or at least interesting insight into who we might be interested in? What did he say about our needs vs chance to fill our needs in the draft?

I tried texting them and Butch kept saying how they were going to answer some texts and they never did.

That's because Butch can't read.

He may be, but he is always willing to talk draft/football instead of Red sox on his Saturday show which makes him ok in my book.

Really? Like Mike (I'm 13 years old) Adams, I always thought he was a baseball nut and everything else with him was a distant second.

inquiring minds.... !

The audio is posted above but some of his points:

It makes the most sense for the Pats to focus on drafting what they draft well, defense and OL. Fill the other needs through free agency and not necessarily "big" name guys.

Don't be surprised to see them move one of the 2nd round picks for a player.

Don't knock the system of moving around in the draft, it has worked for them.

He stopped short of saying the "need" to hit on all of their early picks, but I certainly got that feeling.

butch IS a moron.

Stearns is completely clueless, if there's something stupid to say about something sports related, he'll say it, regardless of the sport being discussed.

I remember Stearns doing his first draft about fifteen years ago. He did a five rnd mock draft for sports late night. His list for the pats were all rated by draft magazines as first rnd talent, but butch had them falling to the pats for five rnd. It would be the equivilent of him doing a mock draft this year and have us being able to get Suh, in the first McClain, in the second Haden, in the third Kindle, in the fourth and Spiller the fifth.

McShay was pretty good. Definitely, had more info on players than WEEI is used to talking about. On a personal note, it was good to see DeOssie and Stearns totally shut down Steve from Fall River when he wanted McShay's opinion on how the Pats blew it taking Watson over Bob Sanders (apparently, Steve from Fall River will never accept the fact that Sanders has spent more than half his career on IR).

I was going to post something similar, but decided to wait over 12 hours to do it :)

The hosts gave Steve from Fall River 3 chances to ask McShay about this year's draft and he kept repeating his worn out script. That's all I've ever heard this guy talk about. I don't even know why they take his calls. It's always a dead end. I would not be surprised if he gave the same speech to people he encounters in every day life; bank tellers, drive through window clerks, deli counter workers, cashiers, etc. Let it go, man.

I did like the McShay stuff. Good or, at least, interesting info, a lengthy segment, and a nice change of pace from the usual AM discussions.
