I'm doing a mock on another site, and I'm up. I'm thinking Sapp or Graham, just because I think they will bring more of an instant impact on defense than someone like Odrick. But what are your thoughts? Convince me.

1. St Louis Rams - Ndamukong Suh, DE, Nebraska
2. Detroit Lions - Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
4. Washington Redskins - Russell Okung, OT Oklahoma State
5. Kansas City Chiefs - Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers
6. Seattle Seahawks - Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
7. Cleveland Browns - Joe Haden, CB, Florida
8. Oakland Raiders - Sam Bradford QB, Oklahoma
9. Buffalo Bills - Brian Price, DT, UCLA
10. Jacksonville Jaguars - Derrick Morgan, DE, Ga Tech
11. Denver Broncos - Ronaldo McClain LB, Alabama
12. Miami Dolphins - Earl Thomas, FS, Texas
13. San Francisco 49ers - Jason Paul-Pierre, DE/OLB USF
14. Seattle Seahawks - Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
15. New York Giants - Sergio Kindle OLB Texas
16. Tennessee Titans - Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
17. San Francisco 49ers - C.J. Spiller, RB Clemson
18. Pittsburgh Steelers - Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho
19. Atlanta Falcons - Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
20. Houston Texans - Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise St
21. Cincinnati Bengals - Dez Bryant, WR, Okla St
22. New England Patriots -

Trade down to 30 -35 and get Hughes. Or, if no trades are allowed, take Odrick. Hughes might be around with your next pick.

sapp reminds me of crable, and graham, will be a good player but go watch some videos of odrick, he is the only player other then suh. that i can see makeing a impact this year.

not a whole lot of stats but he will free up the LB's and be a force vs the run.

I don't know if that's necessarily true. They said Odrick 1-gapped for basically his hole career at Penn St. If he were brought here to play DE and was asked to 2-gap, would there be an adjustment period? Possibly. I also don't know if you pencil him in as the starter right away with Mike Wright playing very well last year.

Sapp or Graham would slide in at OLB as a starter by default at this point due to the pending free agency of Banta-Cain, likely release/trade of Adalius, and the dire need at that position.

So are you saying Odrick will be playing a position, similar to Richard Seymour. I think they are about the same body size.

I didnt say it, but yes to the question...

Odrick just doesn't seem to make enough impact plays, which is one of the things we complained about most last year. It really seems like Mike Wright can do the same job he is being asked to do.

I think the pick is Odrick...you know how BB feels about there being only so many big athletic men on the planet.

I think we get our pass rusher at #42.

He had 7 sacks as a DT in 09. I think Odrick would fit in nicely at DE in our system.

We already traded Seymour, we could be losing Wilfork next year and Jarvis Green has gone MIA. Odrick is the pick IMO. There's plenty of depth at OLB & DE conversion guys.

I want Suh....

but it isn't going to happen. :(

Suh is an absolute ANIMAL.

If the Rams take Bradford instead I wish them 0 luck in the future.:bricks:

I really wanted Kindle, but I think I'm going Graham. No one on the other site seems to high on Odrick, maybe he'll slip into the second. Graham went 12th in the last mock.

I like that idea as well..If Cody (1st round) is the target I can see trading back some spots and picking up some more ammo. I am a big fan of Hughes especially coming of that right side. TBC would make a good match on the right side and give great flexibility for our front 7 and Big Nickel packages.

The Rams HAVE to take a quarterback. You can't pass on a potential franchise QB for a near-guaranteed Pro-Bowl DT. If you don't have a quarterback you simply will not win in this league. Paying Jamarcus Russel money for Suh will make sure the Rams are picking top three again next season, when they'll pretty much have to take Jake Locker, Ryan Mallet or whomever.

A DT has never, by himself, changed the course of a franchise. Quarterbacks do that all the time. You only pick Suh if you're absolutely positive neither Bradford or Clausen will amount to anything in the league. And I am pretty sure there is no scout on any front office who can atest to that right now as both are better prospects than, say, Matt Ryan (to give a recent, successful, example) was.

Sam Bradford by himself will not change that Franchise. Get the best Defensive Animal [probably in the last half decade] and sign the BEAST.

The guy is versatile and can play FB if you really needed him too.

You do not pass up on the BEAST.

It's not like Bradford will win a SB their anytime soon.

Get the QB Next year.... or whenever.

No 1 QB's and RB's seem to flop more often than not... DT's and DE's flops hit at a much lower percentage.

Suh is a Decade type prospect.... and you cannot pass up on that.

I am gonna say it straight out, I have no clue who we will take with our first pick. I know who I would like us to take if he was still available and thats Golden Tate but you just don't know what BB will do. He could take any of those mentioned, he might even take Tebow! or and I think its more likely he deals the pick with the draft being so deep and potentially picking up three players in round 2 that would be first rounders any other year.

Check this out for DT and QB bust rates:

As you can see, they are very similar.

Suh alone can't change the Rams fortunes. Even if he is selected all pro 12 consecutive times, he won't turn the franchise around solely on the strenght of his play and get them a SuperBowl. However, if there is the slightest chance Sam Bradford/Jimmy Clausen can become a Aaron Rodgers/Eli Manning type of quarterback you have to invest that money on one of them. Good Qbs can propel you to greatness, I cannot think of a single case where a DT changed the course of a franchise the way Brady, Manning, Elway, Brees, Marino, Favre etc. have.

Even those who are a little below that upper echelon have found ways to improve their franchises exponentially, something DTs (even hall of fame ones) rarely accomplish. If you are going to dish out nearly 70 million dollars on a college player, it has to be the one who has the greatest chance of elevating your team's play in a drastic manner.

Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee has to be the pick. Has the size, arm length, strength, and skill level to play the nose and more importantly, the 5-technique.

I don't know why people on this board and media people consistently think Brandon Graham is going to the Pats. BRANDON GRAHAM WILL NOT BE DRAFTED BY THE PATRIOTS. BB said last year the reason the Patriots didn't draft any OLBs was because there were not any 6'4 guys who run 4.6s. Based on this very attainable piece of information, why would the Pats select a 6'1 guy with short arms and 4.7 speed?

The OLB options here are Everson Griffen and Ricky Sapp. Griffen is only 6.3 but ran in the 4.6s and has long arms. Sapp is 6'4, only ran a 4.7 (on the slow combine track, he'll in the 4.6s at his pro day).

I'm not a big Odrick fan. Doesn't have the base the Pats typically like at the
5-technique, played in a one-gap system, and looks out of control at times.

You beat me to it......................
