Let's have a fun exercise -- if you were a defensive coordinator going against a Pats passing game facing this tandem, how would you work to stop it?

I'm genuinely unsure you could defeat this passing threat, unless you had a 2007 Giants caliber pass rush and the Pats do nothing to upgrade the o-line this off-season.

Anyway, thoughts?

They wouldn't cover Moss or T.O. Why the need?

With cornerbacks and safeties.

Double cover Moss, T.O. And Welker.

Get gashed by the run and Edelman will be wide open.

Wait for Neal to get hurt and then hit Brady on every pass attempt.

I'm not sure how this offense would be defensed either, aside from hitting Brady on every single down (which is not going to happen).

That offense would be amazing if it worked out perfectly, TO did nothing wrong in Buffalo. The last time I really saw anything on him doing questionable stuff was that "reality" TV show. But I mean you can't really blame him for that, it's an easy way to get paid. I don't think he would be a distraction or locker room cancer at all.

He's never a distraction in his first season. With us, that would most likely be his only season.

Landmines might slow it down some?!

Probably this.

I'd like to point out that even if we got TO, we'd still be without Welker.

Not for the whole season. On top of that, the acquisition of a WR the calibur of Owens would offset the need to get Welker back into top form as soon as humanly possible. Essentially Welker coming back in would be a luxery.

I guess it depends on how great TO can perform.

I cannot say that I am a big fan of T.O. but I sure would like to see TB throwing to him in a game just a teensy little bit. Having him opposite Moss would make it doubly sweeeeeet................

I forgot about that. If T.O is brought here, Welker can take all the time he needs to be 100%, and not rushed. Moss, T.O, and Edelman would be plenty o firepower.

The only people that would have doubts about T.O.'s ability to compete are those who've been harboring some personal vendettas about him, and they shouldn't be listened to anyway. He was still pretty good last year considering what he had to work with in Buffalo.

More importantly...what number would he wear?

would he and moss play rock paper scissors for 81?

will he buy moss a shiny new bentley for 81?

would he not get 81 at all and whine about it all season and throw TB under the bus at week 12?

Ha. Just messing around. T.O. has been a play maker in his 1st year with new teams so I wouldnt mind that acquisition if we could trade him after year 1. But the looming lockout in 2011 might mess that up

TO has left just about every team on bad terms. I dont care what he brings athletically to a team, This isnt Madden. The locker room does matter. And the last thing this team needs is a sulking, self-centered diva creating discord.

I am on the fence bigtime in regards to Owens but I would LOVE to see the fan reaction here if we were to actually sign him to the Patriots. That would be classic!

Would he be a locker room distraction if it's determined he's 36 (37 in December) and just isn't very good anymore?
