Re: OURLADs 2009 All Rookie Team

I think it sums up the Pats drafting ability fairly well

Re: OURLADs 2009 All Rookie Team

Vollmer should easily be on this list.

Re: OURLADs 2009 All Rookie Team

I think Edelman should as well. He may not have been the most dynamic one or two rookie WR;s, but they list about ten, and I find it hard to fathom that he is not listed. No Vollmer?

This looks like a regurgitated list of first round draft pics.

Exactly. It's as if someone made that list right after the draft last spring and just got around to posting it. There wasn't as much thought of this past year's play as there was of draft status.

He played in 11 games, had less than 40 receptions, 400 yards receiving and 1 TD

He looked good but you're kidding yourself if you think he deserves to be on an all rookie team.

Maybe if he hadn't been injured and played all 16 you could consider but there isn't a big enough sample size of his games to determine how good he might be

Re: OURLADs 2009 All Rookie Team

What do you all think of this list:

Ourlads' 2009 All Rookie Team

Epic fail. Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton have no business being near that list, nor does Aaron Curry, or Massaquoi. Three way tie for DROTY?! Yeah, right. If they were going to add a third player, it has to be Orakpo. Holy **** - Tyson Jackson?!? ha ha.

That has to be left well alone.

Some absolutely God-awful list produced by no-one of note who have basically thrown the top 5 draft picks at each position on a piece of paper "sums up the Pats drafting ability fairley well".

I think that says much more about you, myself.

I spelled fairly correctly so your quote is wrong

I just meant the fact that the Pats had nobody on the board seems fitting. I don't care if it's an accurate list or not. If you made a thread with the picture of a pile of poop and said "first thing to come to your head" I would say the Pats drafting

Wow, aren't you shcmart

I'd say pile of poop accurately describes that list.

And if you think it sums it up well, because they seem to know absolutely nothing about the game and noticed what everyone has this year, then more fool you.

The list has little to do with drafting ability, but a lot to do with how a rookie performs when he is on the field. If Welker went down week 1 and Edleman started the entire year he would probably be on this list. If Will Allen played the entire year Sean Smith wouldn't be on the list. Who knows? Maybe if Meriweather got hurt we would have seen Chung go to the pro-bowl. All you can expect out of a player is to do their job when they get the opportunity. That's why most people like to save their opinions of rookies until 3 years down the road.

Holy ****, I've just noticed the other name for DROTY was Jairus Byrd.

Even funnier.

No Clay Matthews, no Orakpo.

Maybe if Tom Brady had wolverine claws he would fight crime instead of play football

lol @ hypothetical statements

But seriously I just don't think the team drafts well. Maybe overall they aren't bad but it seems they miss out on some real studs. Almost like they pride themselves so much on finding talent in odd places that they refuse to conform to the norm of finding it where everyone else does

Re: OURLADs 2009 All Rookie Team

How can an All-Anything team have 3 punters? There were only 3 punters drafted.

Hakeem "Clang" Nicks couldn't catch a cold but Eli refused to stop throwing to him.

The Jags had two tackles on the list and gave up 44 sacks...despite putting the ball in the air the 9th fewest times in the NFL.

Donald Brown averaged 3.6 ypa and followed that up with a 2.6 ypa in the playoffs.

The Pats really shouldn't be represented on an All-Rookie team since their youngsters didn't get enough reps (except for Ingram). BTW, getting a year to develop and get some situational experience is probably optimal. Other than Brace, everyone took advantage of the reps they got.

If Chung, Butler, Brace, Vollmer, Tate, McKenzie, Ohrnberger, Bussey, Pryor, Edelman and Richard (or at least most of them) don't step up big in 2010, then you can question the picks. Not being on this guy's list isn't such a bad thing.

Re: OURLADs 2009 All Rookie Team

This is terrible.

Mohamed Massaquoi really? I picked this guy up in fantasy after he had a big game and he followed it up w/ like three 0 reception games in a row.

So basically, Tom Brady was a bad draft pick because he didn't perform as a rookie?

I guess I was the only one not all that impressed with Vontae Davis this season.
