What are everyone's thoughts on either of these guys as Patriots. I didn't like Tate during the season (I hate ND with a passion), however he always seemed to make the tough grab, and showed decent speed in the open field.

Best seems like he would be a nice possible long term replacement for Kevin Faulk, I am intrigued as well about his ability in the return game.

Love Golden Tate.... Favorite reciever in the draft. Production galore, he was really the only player ND had and no one stopped him. Would love to see him picked up by NE. Even at 22.

I've read the comparisons of Tate and Steve Smith (CAR)... very compelling. Unfortunately, even as a ND fan, I don't think Tate has a great ball catcher. On the good side, he does create mismatches around the entire field and needs to be part of an offense that will take advantage of that.

What are the comparisons between the two? Because I'll say this... if he's ANYTHING like Steve Smith (either of them, NYG or Car) i'd love to have that on the Patriots.

Best = Darren Sproles, a glorified 3rd down back and kick returner. Jonathan Dwyer, would be my pick for the pats he is pretty much Eddie George, #2

i think tate. will be a good WR but Arrelious Benn, would look great as the pats #2 with moss. as the #1 and Wes Welker, and Julian Edelman, in the slot. that would be a great WR core.

Some people, like Mel Kiper, have expressed a concern about the ability of Tate to separate in the NFL. Should be interesting to see him in the combine. Not really a big fan of either guy, but I like Best better than Tate. Benn is my favorite WR for us in the 2nd.

Best is one of my favorite college players. His injury came on a freak accident, you rarely see a player get hurt the way he did. I hope he checks out medically at the combine. The biggest concern other than his health is probably his size. If he measures in at his listed height and weight and posts a good 40 time, he probably go in the second round. Would he be a good fit for the Patriots? I don't think so. Belichick seems to prefer bigger backs.

I see Anthony Dixon as a good fit. He's a big back at 6-1 and 245 pounds. Dixon is not really a burner, but he has good short area quickness to make a man miss. He ran a lot from the shotgun, so that would be a good fit. He is a good receiver and he knows how to pass protect. A concern is his work load, he already had 910 carries over four years in college.

Jonathan Dwyer is an intriguing prospect from a physical standpoint, but we don't know if he can pass block or be a receiver out of the backfield. Right now he is a two down back, can he stay on the filed on third and long?

THIS. He made Jimmy Clausen look like a first round quarterback. I love this guy, he'll be a solid number 2 here.

Tate. Solely because it's one less WR for the Jets to pick from

If he runs well at the combine, Tate will be the #1 WR on my PPDB (Potential Pats Draft Board)

While I have heard the concerns about his ability to beat press coverage at the LOS, I do believe he is physical enough to overcome this problem.

I do have bigger concerns with his rounding off of routes. That just will not work in the NFL. If he ran routes as well as Shipley of Texas, he would be a sure fire 1st rounder.
