So ... what will you consider to be a decent season for Ortiz this year?

.270 Avg

28 HR

90 RBI

:confused2:

I think he could easily reach that, he said he was healthy this year and on his normal routine, there is nothing wrong in his mind, because he said he was proud of the way he came back last year. I think he will have a normal Papi season.

Which papi will we see...the fat papi

looks like we will get the skinny Papi that is still *****ing about having no protection in the lineup.

 ..... :scared:

I'd like to see a poll ... how many Sox fans would rather see Mike Lowell as our regular DH.

I know I would like that ... Lowell is a proven RBI man and he loves the wall ... when healthy of course.

Based on what he did n the 2nd half last season since he was hurt in the 1st half.

32/104 should be expected if he comes out slow..need to replace him and as a poster stated Lowell could be that guy.

i would love to keep Lowell. he is such a classy guy. I actually like Ortiz as well, but he is still making underhanded comments about having no protection in the lineup and sulking about the sox getting rid of his boy manny. at some point enough is enough.

Its probably a good thing that he slimmed down a bit. I would also expect that to mean that he will also drop the power numbers a bit. If he came in as the fat slob he usually is I would expect him to have a terrible year, see Mo Vaughn.

the only problem with replacing him with Lowell is...Lowell could be traded during spring training unfortunately. What would be nice is Lowell shows something during spring training and Theo trades Papi.

He did quite well the second half of the season. What more do you want from a guy coming off an injury?

I predict we will see an aging Papi with post steroid bat speed.

Big Papi watch. I love the guy but Tito.. come on. He's finished.

I want a lot more from a guy cashing an $11 million dollar check each year.

The Cuban league would not even take Papi.

This should be an interesting at bat for Papi. Bases loaded bottom of the 8th none out. Come on big fella.

edit = I have zero faith in David Ortiz. (Hangs head in shame).

he hit into double play and could not even plate the run...he sucks. Hermida came through with a double thank God!

It kills me to watch his epic decline from Boston star to below average major leaguer.

Thank gosh for Hermida and the rest of the crew picking up his slack in the eighth. Now to close it out.

Yes, it is very tough to watch the decline...he did so much for the sox in years past. Now Francona is stuck between trying to put him in to save some face and have him exit gracefully.

Tough to watch no doubt

Ortiz:

April: .143/.238/.286 .524 OPS 1HR 21 SO 7BB
May: .358/.397/.774 1.171 OPS 7HR 17 SO 4BB
June: ??

The K numbers worry me a bit, but hes hitting the everloving crap out of the ball right now.
