But anyway, I've got some issues with Mayock's rankings.

Jason Pierre-Paul ahead of Derrick Morgan is beyond insane. If you are looking for the best bet to be a productive NFL player amongst the DE crop, one would be hard pressed to point at anyone other than Morgan. The best thing you can say for Pierre-Paul is that Charlestown Southern and Rutgers are just terrified of the guy. At least Mamula put together a respectable college career in the Big East before his Combine helium reached the stratosphere. Pierre-Paul hasn't even reached the Combine yet and this insanity has already started.

On his running backs, if Dexter McCluster and Joe Mcknight are the fifth best running back prospects in this draft, weakness doesn't even begin to describe the lack of depth he is implying here. I mean, sure - if the idea is that combining McKnight and McCluster into a pseudo-hybrid McKnister, I can see that. Mike is going to have to be a little more specific here.

My last gripe is leaving off Perrish Cox of his top 5 for CBs. This is relatively minor, as Mayock probably has more insight into whether NFL front office types believe Cox will eventually project as a shutdown corner or a prison yard all-star. Still, if it is just about talent, there were few cornerbacks playing NCAA football last season as talented as Perrish Cox.

With great respect, I think Suh fits any just about every scheme at almost any position (I suspect he'd even be able to play NT in the 3-4 in the style of Jay Ratliff).

McCoy is an immense player, and likely the first DT off the board any year other than this, but I do not see how or why the Rams would take him over Suh.

I'd take Suh. McCoy is a great player, but I think Suh is better overall. I know Spags likes good penetrating DT and that's a good asset of McCoy, but I can't pass up Suh who I think is stronger at the POA and an equally as good penetrator. He is the complete package in terms of quickness and power IMO.

For us, he'd be the ideal replacement for Seymour. Too bad we have no shot at him.

Hypothetical trade.....

We send Vince and Matt Light to KC for their #5 pick and their #68 pick (would it be possible to get their #36 perhaps?), then trade the #5 and our #53 (maybe throw in a couple of 7th rounders? Or if we could get their #36, send that and the #5 pick) to the Rams for the #1.

Only problem then is the money it would take to sign Suh, and another first round pick. And we would have to play 4-3 pretty much (unless you wanted to plug Brace in at NT).

Imagine a Draft though looking something like:

#1 - DT/DE Suh
#22 - DE/OLB Graham
#42/44 - OC/OG Pouncey
#47/48 - WR/KR Gilyard
#53 - ATH McCluster

Or:

#1 - DT/DE Suh
#22 - WR Benn
#42/44 - RB Matthews
#47/48 - OG Johnson
#64 - DE/OLB Misi

Donald Butler, W as fourth best ILB is interesting. That's an intriguing prospect, IMO. Also, I would'nt want to be in the market for a QB, no one on that list does anything for me. Same goes for Tackle, big question marks.

He's a 4-3 MLB from what I've seen. As for playing in the 3-4 - he'd be another WILB.

I've noticed Perrish Cox has some mad ability also...why do you think he's destined for the prison yard? I know he was suspended for the final game and tweeted about it and he admitted that he didn't used to go to class all the time. (I missed a few myself occasionally...no one made me run laps for it though).

Apparently some rumors are going around about possible gang involvement. :confused2: At this point they're purely rumors, so until there's something more to go on than "well, he skipped class once--and I hear he's in a gang!" then I think we should do the kid a solid and give him the benefit of the doubt. He's pretty talented, and seems like a hard worker.

Well that's the question, Suh is noted for his strength at the point of attack and McCoy is noted for his disruptive gap shooting. Perhaps Suh can indeed play every game as a penetrator, but we know McCoy does - with the talent level reportedly so close I'm 'guessing' STL takes the guy who 'consistently' plays the most closely to their style of defense.

Which is why, whilst wearing my BB 'what would I do' hat, I'd consider offering STL the Tennessee or Jacksonville picks in round two for Adam Carriker's last two years - they unload a player who doesn't fit their scheme and does fit NE's, while putting more pressure on teams considering trading up for Suh. It works even better for them, they can use that #1 to address QB or OT, whichever they need most, then they will have two 2nds and can use one on Tyson Alualu who would be an absolute stud in Spag's scheme.
