Dont know how to post a poll and this thought popped in my head today. Lots of teams are switching to the black cleats, they have a cool old school look. Who would prefer black cleats over the white?

Id rather us get some lighter jerseys, we have the heaviest in the NFL.

No way. The black cleat look makes sense for teams with black in their color scheme, but for teams like the Pats with no black on the uniforms, it just looks bad.

Man they need to get some newer gillette razor blades and shave the exposed areas of skin. It makes them more aero dynamic

Remember LA Lights? That would be pretty awesome

Or they could change the surface at Gillette to old school astro turf and wear these

It might help our running back situation and/or help Brady regain some of his mobility in the pocket

This thread reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George developed Cotton Jerseys for the Yankees to wear on the field

They can wear candy-striped flip-flops as long as they win another SB.

Funny that this thread has been brought up...just 10 minutes ago the Jets Woody Johnson unvelied the Jets new cleated footgear for 2010....

Well, cotton breaths and is a natural fabric.

Its worth a look going to cotton on 2010. I'm going ask Reiss what he thinks.

Maybe if we heated up the uniforms in a pizza oven before the game, the players would come out looser.

What difference does it matter what color the cleats are? They're on the bottom of shoes and you seldom see them anyway. Besides, cleats are never worn on artificial surfaces -- only grass. And, where's the poll? :bricks:

Oh, man! That's so depressing! 15 years ago!? I feel so old...maybe I need some geriatric cleats..........

Black cleats look good on the "retro" teams, like the Browns (I loved their recent mini-uniform transformation, with the gray facemasks ans black cleats), Giants (theirs is a work in progress, but the away unis are just abominable...and not solely because of my worst memory of them) and Colts (Major improvement, even Peyton had the right idea, trying to wear high tops to honor Johnny U).

There is however, NO reason for the Pats to go retro as they would be honoring an era that is best left to the ages. They could simplify their current design, which is quite busy, with the textures, the logos, the piping, the stripes, the shoulder swooshes, and double tackle twill numbers. That was tiresome just to type. To add black to a scheme that now includes blue, silver, red and white would be an eyesore. As it is, I think Bob Kraft let NFL properties go hog wild. Simple is the way to go, IMO...

You know it is a slow news day during the off season when the football forums are discussing shoe fashion.

Yep, it's smelling like the off season at patsfans.com.

Black cleats would look awesome with the old unis.
The Patriiots home uni's (blue/silver) are the ugliest in the NFL.
They look much better with road white jerseys/blue pants.
Black cleats might fly with the road whites.
