Which one would fit in our system the best and I guess - which one can we pursue realistically and possibly get...

I would think Sproles because of his ability to fit many different roles.

Re: Westbrook, LT or Sproles....

Westbrook - Last couple years injured and has major concussion issues .
LT- Injured and lost a step .
Sproles - Cannot be put in blitzing downs. He is too small and does not pick up blitz .

So non fit our system. westbrook has repeated concussion and once the pattern starts you are going to miss a bunch of games every year. we already have taylor and morris who fit that role.

LT- He is avg 3.5 or below and has lost a step. never been a blitz pickup guy so not sure we will get him as maroney is probabily better at this point/

Sproles.- RB do not play in our system who cannot pick up blitzes.

Re: Westbrook, LT or Sproles....

Westbrook is oft injured and probably not worth the risk. LT is the anti-Patriot. Sproles would be an upgrade in the return game, and Brady loves those short shifty receivers.

Sproles is the only guy I would want in a Patriots uniform but it's not going to happen because he is due 7 million this next year and LT is going to be cut (or traded I would lol). San Diego will lock up Sproles and Jackson in long term contracts if they are smart because they are two of their best play makers.

Re: Westbrook, LT or Sproles....

Sproles seems to be a the only one in the list with the up side. We may have better luck in draft when compared to the other 2.

Still I would love to sign LT and cut him in training camp ;)

I agree with the poster before me said and that the Chargers wont let Sproles get away. LT isnt the same as he once was so I'd pass on him and Westbrook is too old and injury prone. If we were to make a huge move in the RB position this off season I would like it to be Ronnie Brown. He would be a great fit in NE and is fairly young. Do I think it will happen, no, but it is a nice thought.

Re: Westbrook, LT or Sproles....

I'd take Leon Washington if it looks like he can get back to his normal form from his broken leg.

Re: Westbrook, LT or Sproles....

Sproles is likely to be franchised or RFA tendered. Either way, I don't see Sproles going anywhere.

I think that Westbrook would be a better fit to replace Faulk if Faulk decided to retire or was signed by someone else.

I don't want LT on this team at all.

Re: Westbrook, LT or Sproles....

So it is between two once extremely productive but now over the hill RBs who will have trouble even finding a job in 2010 and a dynamic but overpriced 3rd down back/returner who isn't going to be available anyway?

Guess the answer is clearly D none of the above.

Re: Westbrook, LT or Sproles....

I would say none, resign Faulk.

Re: Westbrook, LT or Sproles....

Westbrook would be the best fit for the Patriots, IMO.

Re: Westbrook, LT or Sproles....

Lawrence Taylor is making a comeback on offense?

-- Westbrook to replace Marshall Faulk.
-- LdT in training to be an instructor at the Peyton Manning Postseason Performance School, just as soon as he can get a minor issue that developed after his last trip to the beach treated.
-- Darren Sproles :rocker:

Sproles isn't due anything next year. He's a restricted free agent.

I would keep Faulk as opposed to any of them. Going afte Leon Washington would be an interesting move. The answer to this is C.J. Spiller at #23, he is all of tehm rolled together minus 12 years of NFL age and wear and tear.

The problem with the Chargers keeping Sproles is that if they can't get a deal done, they will have to give him the highest RFA tender to keep him and since he is due at least 20% more than his 2009 salary. That means his tender offer would be around $8 million. That is a lot of money for a guy who has yet to prove he can be an every down back. My guess is that if they cannot get a deal done, they will tender him at a tender that someone would be willing to sign him and give a draft pick up for him like a second round tender. I don't see they ever letting him play for $8 million for one year.

If he is tendered he will be due 110% of his 2009 salary of $6.6M when he was tagged...regardless of what level he is tendered at. If he is not tendered then he won't he due anything but he's obviously going to be looking for a long term deal heading into a lockout season...

SD will likely tender him as absent a new stadium deal they lack the resources to do multiple long term extensions - let alone heading into a lockout season - and have long allowed the cap to essentially pay for the players they do extend.

The 20% increase is only if they tagged him again, which since he's reverted to RFA status under the expiring CBA they don't have to do. RFA's get the salary at their tender OR 110% of their prior year's salary, so in his case $7.3M regardless of what RFA level they tender him at.

I think sproles has that 3rd down back like Kevin Faulk. I'm just saying he might be useful but not as a every down back. The rest don't have that much left in the tank not to mention injury concerns.

Re: Westbrook, LT or Sproles....

Maroney...

Sproles lead the NFL in receiving out of the backfield, not to mention all the other skills he brings to the team.

Theres no way SD lets him go unless they are crazy.
