What do you think will be our first move this offseason? Pick up a player, release a player, trade (Adalius),franchise Vince.

I think we sign a extension with Vince. He's too valuable to the team imo.
Last year we lost a lot of veterans on defense and I believe BB will try to sign him....................I hope.

#1 wilfork gets the TAG then a long term deal.

#2 brady, becomes the highest paid QB in the NFL for 1 week untill manning signed a new deal'

#3 TBC signs a 5 year 25 million doller contract. with 8 million up front.

#4 bodden gets a 4 year 28 million doller deal with 10 million up front.

will thats the way i want the offseason to go :D

The first move?

Probably the re-signing of Faulk

It's either going to be signing Brady to an extension or tagging Wilfork. I'm more inclined to go with the latter.

Re-sign Bodden. Tag Wilfork if you can't work out a reasonable deal. If both those players are in the starting lineup in the coming season, we will be fine on defense.

i would find a head coach that doesnt cheat, and one that knows when and when not to go for it on 4th down with a school girl dump off to welker qb

This would be great . I would add one more..
Don't trade back more than 1 pick in the 1st 2 rounds this year.

1. Tag wilfork and trade him.

2. Resign Faulk.

3. Trade Thomas.

Personally, I would never give TBC that much money. Hell, anything over 2mill is a ripoff. I truly feel that rob ninkovich would have been just as successful as tbc if given the chance. Ninkovich also showed good ability against the run. If tully wants to get paid maybe he should go to SF, oh yeah they didn't want him.

Try to work out a new contract with Wilfork. Tag him if that fails, even if doing so increases the chance that he'll force a trade.

Re-sign Bodden and TBC (though the contract numbers suggested above are certainly too steep.

Extend Brady.

Can we have all that done by, say, Tuesday?

BTW - the guy who made comment #8 is obviously below the (very generous) minimum IQ requirement for this board.

Yup. This is a must do move.

Brady will be extended with big bonus money, but expect the structure of the deal to be cap friendly. He knows the team needs to spend money to put good guys around him.

#3 TBC signs a 5 year 25 million doller contract. with 8 million up front.

TBC would be the most overpaid player on the planet if this happened. He will be signed for small money, if he stays with the Pats.

#4 bodden gets a 4 year 28 million doller deal with 10 million up front.

I could see this happening. I don't know how his contract will be structured though.

Pats also need to bring in a few key free agents, and then there's the draft. I also wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of trades for veteran players.

im not sure 5 million a year is all that much for a 3-4 OLB with 10 sacks the 49ers give him 4 million a year when he only had 5 sacks im sure a team like KC who will be running the same system will give him 5 million a year.

AD made 7 million this year and he can't tackel he can't cover or get to the QB i don't see why TBC is not wort 5 the pats most likey wont give him that but if he's looking for a pay day then im sure there are a few teams that will give him that.

I think the first was bid farewell to Dean Pees, but that was his move, so perhaps the first NE offseason move was to re-sign most of the Practice Squad to futures contracts.

Big Vince will be tagged or Faulk will be re-signed.

I can't see any RFA signing before March 6 when their UFA status is officially revoked.

I don't think there will be much urgency to extend Brady. It will be done, but maybe closer to or after the draft. I know he's due a roster bonus, but it's quite small relative to the amount of guaranteed cash he's going to get. Besides, no doubt Manning's waiting for Brady so he can one up him (the only way he knows how), so waiting it out makes Polian sweat a little longer.

I would like to see Bodden re-signed, but it doesn't look imminent and if he makes it to March 6, he's as good as gone.

Yeah. This concerns me. Bodden has been the most consistent coverage guy we've had since Samuel left, PLUS he tackles way better. There really aren't that many guys in the league who were as good or better this year (maybe a dozen or so), and it's highly doubtful that any vet who's nearly as good would be available for significantly less money. Butler's coming on and may eventually surpass Bodden, but he's not there yet. Wilhite was not significantly better than old-man Springs in 2009 and neither were particularly decent as nickel guys. Who else have we got? Under the circumstances, I'd think, say, 4 years at $7 mil per should be more than acceptable to the Pats.

Where is this league do you find a Coach who doesn't cheat? Let's find him and tell Mr. Kraft right now. Jimmy Johnson, Jon Gruden, Bill Parcells? Didn't Super Bowl winning coach George Allen have people hiding in trees to scout other teams practices? Doesn't every coach try to gain a gray area advantage? Didn't they all admit it? Well we can't use those guys...darn! Didn't the Steelers win 4 SB with players that are now dropping like flies because of 'droid use? The Raiders would never use "droids". Don't the Jets get off the hook from taping the Pats sidelines in a playoff game?(let's see...Goodell former Jets employee!?!......), Guess Mangini won't work. Let's see,......the Dolphins saying they taped Brady's check offs. Weren't the SB 49er teams penalized a pick because they were over the CAP and "cheated" to the league in their Super Bowl years? So wait....They won Super Bowls because they had more quality players being paid on their roster over the legal salary limit than everyone else in the league? Oh, the crime of it all........How do you stand on that one Mr. Breesimaninny, "Patron saint of all the non-cheating NFL guys"?

Then again all of those GM's don't cheat like Pullian turning up the on-field loudspeaker sounds when the other offense if calling plays (verified by a credible stadium employee) , or raising the dome temp on the field so his fast team can wear down the bigger ones. Or the head of NFL officials agreeing that Pollian as the head of the NFL Competition committee changed the rules purposely to fit Manning and comply with the Colts team, or the Saints saying they wanted to injure opposing QB's which is like a bounty which is illegal in the NFL. Check the rule book assuming you are intelligent. Didn't Mr. Pollian say that his team should hurt a certain Patriots player in a game? Didn't the assiatnt head on the NFL Rules competition committee Jeff Fisher applaud his player for taking out a specific Pats starter with an illegal block prior to the NFL Playoffs a few seasons back?

Oh yeah, the rule clearly states that the "viewing" of the sidelines is perfectly legal if it is in an approved NFL venue such as the coaches box. It's too bad there isn't an invention called the binoculars or high powered camera lenses. Spy satellites can count the zits on your face breesimaninny. That rule states that the area must have "three sides". So if BB puts the camera in a empty refrigerator cardboard delivery box on the sideline that would have been completely legal. Stupid looking, yes......OUCH! As long as that satellites has three sides we are good to go there. I could see it with a Colts logo.

Funny I see Peyton on the sidelines looking at Polaroids all game long. Say...you don't possibly think that they could get an idea from a "picture" of the schemes the other team is going to run do ya? You don't ever think those Polaroids could get more than just the players on the field? ....nah!

It's a good thing there isn't a coach out there that doesn't cheat. Ask Dungy.

What the hell is a welkerqb? If you remember the world and the rest of the Universe outside of Indy agrees that the first down was made with plenty to spare by at least another yard. Perhaps...just Perhaps, Pollian was at that game? And the ref who made the call with the x-ray vision on the other side of Faulk was interesting. Bobble? No, not at all. Cheat? The Colts? Pollian the head of the NFL competition committee? No way!

The team with the most SB wins, the Steelers should have an asterisk ,don't you agree with the 'Droids and all? The Colts who's GM dictated the sport to align with his team and now 100% collaborated by the retiring NFL head referee. How about an asterisk for ol' Peyton on his SB win? As the cheater vigilante you should be on the phone to the NFL league office as we speak! The Giants had three holding calls and two hands to the face (facemask) on just one single play which was the famous Tyree play in the 18-1 2007 Pats season, all blatant if you must know, and that Pats season feat was well after the non-issue camera incident prior to that year. So one play with five count them, five illegal calls ignored changed history? Can I get a amen on tainted for Eli and the Big Blue? Did BB or Brady ever pout on that one? Did Mr. Peyton through barbs at his own team after the Saints game...nah!

O.K. let's start getting this out to the world, Breesimaninny, Mr. holier than thou!

Step #1 has to be to franchise Wilfork.

Step #2 might be to transition tag Bodden.

With 2011 looking more and more like a lockout season, and more than likely subsequent years will feature a rookie wage scale and probably a cap cut off % of revenue significantly less than it is today; you have to wonder if it is smart to pay a huge signing bonus for the 2010 season. It seems to me like it would make more sense for teams to want to break the bonus up so if there is no 2011 season, then the team retains a piece of the bonus.

Cut AD, tag and trade Wilfork.

AD can not be cut until March 5th because cutting him before then would put the Pats over the 2009 cap. The Pats have to tag Wilfork before then.

I take it you think Wilfork would be a good fit for your colts?

I agree, hHow do we pay a huge contract to TBC? He was on the junk heap a little while ago.
