Draft Countdown - 2010 NFL Mock Draft

22: Tim Tebow, QB, Florida
42: Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech
48: Koa Misi, OLB, Utah
53: Aaron Hernandez, TE, Florida

Well I see they are still on the Tebow to Pats thing. Except for the Dwyer pick, I dont like this mock. I would rather go with:

22: Jared Odrick, DE, Penn State
42: Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech
48: Ron Gronkowski, TE, Arizona
53: Jerry Hughes, OLB, TCU

I prefer Hernandez to Gronkowski. But there are no TE in the draft who really excite me besides Jermaine Gresham

Actually, after looking over the mock again, I think I may prefer Brandon Spikes, who they have going at #50 over Gronkowski. And a WR at #42 like Brandon Lafell, LSU or MArdy Gilyard, Cincy.

22: Odrick, DE
42: Lafell/Gilyard, WR
48: Spikes, ILB
53: Hughes, OLB

Then target a RB like Ben Tate in the 4th. Hopefully he would still be there.

A horrible mock to be sure, the only player who addresses a real need is Misi, but at least they got the kind of OLB I think BB could pull the trigger on.

22: Brandon Graham
42: Koa Misi (I kinda doubt he goes as high as the 2nd round, but I'm using their rankings)
48: Kyle Wilson (not sure why we'd pass on him if he's still available that late; BB has picked 17 DBs in the past ten drafts, half of them in the first three rounds, so this pick wouldn't surprise me at all, especially considering the state of our CBs)
53: Rodger Saffold (could probably take over for Neal or Kaczur very quickly)

I'm not sold on Dwyer making it as a feature back. We can probably pick up a guy like Peek or Ed ****son or Quarless later who will contribute just as much as any of the "higher" TEs, given the Pats' current offensive scheme and its use (or lack thereof) of TEs in the passing game.

I like this guys site and usually like his mocks, but I didnt care for this one. I'd be pissed if we took Tebow in the first. I would have preferred:

22. Graham (he had him at 23)
42. Gilyard (he had him at 47)
48. Spikes (he had him at 50)
53. Hughes (he had him at 58)

It's a little heavy on LB's and I think we would need a TE like McCoy and an RB in the later rounds to make this a very good draft - use the compensatory picks in the 6th and 7th to bring in some big bodies along both lines for tryouts and/or practice squad. I don't want any of the picks in the first two rounds used on the OL or DL (unless we lose Wilfork).

22 Brandon Graham
42 Kyle Wilson
48 Jonathan Dwyer
53 Brandon La Fell

Commit to the 43 short term and run the fricken ball!!!!

22. Dan Williams
42. Brandon Lafell
48. Brandon Spikes
53. Kyle Wilson

To use Mora's phrase...Tebow? TEBOW? Don't talk to me about TEBOW!
Assuming the Pats have Wilfork back next year, I would be very content with

Odrick
Gilyard
Misi
Saffold

I agree. Gronkowski is probably a better all around TE (with question marks), but Herandez would be a better replacement of Watson.

Does any sane analyst think the Pats would draft Tebow???

Scott Wright does this every year. He makes smoke screen picks until his final mock

Seems to me his final mocks are not much better. I doubt he truly knows the difference between a 4-3 and a 3-4; because he certainly doesn't understand how players fit into the different schemes.

Using their mock and those below our picks , I came up with.

22 Graham- still not sure if hes a good patriots fit
43. Lafell- give TFB another weapon
48 Spikes- he could just be the key to the Patriots draft. Next to Mayo it may be like having Ted Johnson next to Tedy. That would be a big addition.
53. Gronkowski. Big TE who could be the best in a good class.

I think that anyone doing mocks at this time is doing so just for readership value.l In fact, any mock done before the end of March is an excercise in futility because so much can happen with free agency. The Pats are a perfect example. How they draft will change dramatically if they can't get Mankins and Wilfork signed to a long term deal.

The Pats aren't the only ones in this siutation. Every team in the league is like this..

So I assume you're not looking at the 2011 Mocks yet?:)

I agree with you that free agency will make a big difference, but it's a good way to kill a little time until free agency starts.

I'd go with:

Brandon Graham
Damian Williams
Kyle Wilson
Lamaar Houston

Houston is a reach but we don't have a 3rd. Call me crazy, I'd rather have Houston and Graham over Odrick and Hughes.

Houston's not much of a reach. After the Combine, I think a lot of people will be talking about him as a mid 2nd rounder. In a class which is fairly weak in 3-4 DE prospects, Houston will get definitely considered by someone in the 2nd. Too many teams play 3-4 nowadays for him to last beyond the very early 3rd.
