I hope he doesn't let the door hit him in the ass on his way out. By the way, why does it always seem that people are terrified that that the Jets may end up with our trash? Because that's what this guy is - trash. If he ends up being a terrific player for the Jets (which I doubt, but it's possible), so be it. There was nothing else the Patriots could do if no one is willing to trade for him. Have we become that wussified that we tremble at the prospect of someone we no longer want going to the Jets?

Sure, I think they will.... just a matter of if they get anything worthwhile in return.

Anyone have any idea of what his trade value is in term of draft pick(s)? I suppose it depends on the team but would it fair to say a 3rd or 4th?

Let's see...he's barely produced, been mopey and injured.

I would jump on any offer in the third or fourth round range.

I think if the team releases him or trades him, it would just be safe to say that he wasn't a good fit in our scheme. He's more or less built for an attacking scheme like Baltimore or the Jets, and I wouldn't be suprised to see him wind up at either of those locations and have a successful season.

His attitude this year was clearly unprofessional. However, I think he can make good contributions in a different system. Let's just hope we can get something if the decision is to part ways.

:mad:3rd or 4th for that guy? Are you kidding? Conditional 6th at the most.

He's a 5M rental for one year and he's hasn't done anything in years.

Most likely he's just cut outright:(.

Which team is dumb enough to pay him 5 million and give up a first day draft pick.
do not say oakland

last year let see seymour , 3rd and 5th for Burgess and 2011 first lol

burgess did not even get 8 sacks and 51 tackles that seymour gave us a 3-4 end.

The Jets can't sign him if hes cut because of the "final eight" rule correct? I bet they would trade for him though.

As I understand it they can only if they get rid of a player with the same contract value.

No - they cannot sign unrestricted free agents. They can sign waived/released players.

I would take a lesser pick and ship him off to the Lions, Bucs or Rams.

Anywhere where has no chance to get a ring.

He's gone. I'd take a fourth round pick.

I think he has trade value. He came out and said that his issues with BB started in week one, so teams can chalk up his poor play to issues with the coach. I'm sure a lot of coaches think they can get more out of him.

As for his contract, he rips that up at the drop of guaranteed money. He's got $5m coming this year and $6m next, but none is guaranteed and 2011 is up in the air. And he isn't getting any younger. I think a team could restructure the next two years downward by including a modest signing bonus.

I think there are a few teams that may have interest and I could see us getting a fourth or fifth rounder.

Not if they get rid of a player, but rather if one of their UFAs signs a bigger contract.

Also, they (along with the other Final Eight teams) can't trade for a player they wouldn't be able to sign as a UFA.

[I'm still not sure if they can sign players who are cut by their old teams; as I've said before, the wording is opaque enough that it could go either way. I'll gladly admit I'm wrong when I hear that one of the Final Eight teams signs a cut player they wouldn't normally be able to sign.]

I would think if Thomas is released the Jets could release Gholston and then pick up thomas.. It would be the smart move.. (if the contracts match up)

Again, the Final Eight Plan does not allow the JEST to do this. As a final four team, they can only sign one UFA for each one they lose to another team. Players they cut do not qualify. More importantly, what matters is not what they were being paid, but rather what they get in the new deal.

In any case, Gholston is subject to waivers, so they don't get to sign a replacement UFA if they cut him.

Why aren't we allowed to say Oakland? We've fleeced... err dealt with them before plenty of times. They probably fleeced us somewhat with the Burgess trade, but we did get that 2011 1st for Seymour. So why not send AD packing to Oakland? It couldn't happen to a nicer guy. *g*

PS 2nd and 3rd round picks are no longer 1st day picks. They are 2nd day picks.

What's that quote, " "If a player has talent and doesn't succeed, that means that they either don't want to be successful or I have failed as a coach."?

What the hell happened here?
