for once, i would love for the Boston media to back the locals teams like they do Peyton Manning and the Colts. It gets real tiring to hear them fawn all over Manning/Colts, and then really work hard to tear down the hometown teams.

They think they must go negative to get ratings.

I admire impartiality (see Mike Reiss - Breer).

I do not need a homer or a flamer to color things for me - just report the news please.

I no longer buy globe or herald, I do listen to talk radio when decent sportscasters are on (Holley, Arnold) or when actual players / coaches or interesting guests are on.

With this site and the internet, I do not need the mediots anymore, they dug their own graves over the past few years and have buried themselves.

It's what they do, it's annoying as all hell but that's just what they do in boston. they constantly tear the Red Sox down with the Yankees, they couldn't wait for the Pats to start failing so they could do it to them, and they treat the Bruins like they aren't even an actual team.

they are too busy digging up and reporting false info like rams taping a day before the SB or how asante samuel is being treated, during SB week thanks to jackie macmullen.

here is a good read if you havent read it before
Boston Sports Media Watch Bill Belichick and the New England Media

They are mostly awful, but then us discussing them is exactly why they write the stuff they do...it is about getting folks to click on the site. As they always say, any publicity is better than no publicity...and so they've chosen to go negative. What is nauseating is that it literally is almost every writer....I mean, youd think someone would write good stuff just to stick out from the crowd.

The media thinks positive opinions of other teams are objective. But positive opinions of local teams is homerism. And then laugh and mock the 'homers'.

This is what I wrote yesterday in another thread:

Boy! The Boston sportswriter elite are truly the most anti-Patriots group you could find in a single community anywhere in the country. Isnt that something?
You would think these guys would be writing something like - "No way Manning is better. Our boy has taken us to four super bowls and won three. The best anybody else has done is half of what our boy has accomplished". Instead, writers from elsewhere have to stand up for our guy.

New England folks truly love their Patriots. I have witnessed this for twenty five years since I moved here from India. You really have to wonder to which market Shaugnessey, Ryan, Borges, Jackie Mcmullan, Tomase, etc. cater to.

The worst tag anyone can put on a member of the NE media is "homer." Collectively, and individually, they will go to any lengths to avoid that label. If that means lying about the home teams, they'll do it. If that means intentionally "fudging the truth" (just short of lying), they'll do that, too. Combine that mindset with a vitriolic hatred of Bill Belichick and you have the perfect formula for intentional misrepresentation. Combine all of that with people like Felger, Shaughnessy, Ryan, MacMullen, Borges, Gasper (lately) and Breer (lately) who are so arrogantly pompous and self-assured and you have the perfect storm for the anti-home team storm. The difference is that they generally like Tito and Doc, and, thus, go somewhat easier on them and their teams. But, they'll turn on them in a second, as well, if it suits their agendas. Now, throw in primitive neanderthals such as Dennis, Callahan (both certified racists, homophobes and women-haters) along with dopes like Tanguay and Zolak and then mix in idiots like Ordway, Smerlas, DeOssie, Stearns, Johnson, Mustard, the Mutt dope on Saturdays, Bradford (who couldn't speak English if it were fed into his earlobes) and we have a terrific pantheon of spectacular media members.

Today's Globe sports section front page: Albert R. Breer, On Football: Headline: One thing not up for debate: Colts will win; Yesterday's Globe sports section front page: Dan Shaughnessy: The torch has been passed; Brady-Manning debate: Colts QB makes another great comeback; "Peyton Manning is better than Tom Brady. There I said it. Call the cops." No, actually call the EMTs because Peyton choked again!!! And so did Shank...LOL!

Well, it didn't take long. 3 minutes ago Felger, Gasper and Buckley agreeing that BB's decision not to hire coordinators is "just like his Cleveland days." What a ship of fools we have in this town media-wise...

Objective, not to mention arrogant, geniuses like these covering our teams is the real "curse" this town has been battling for generations...

Herald staffers’ Super Bowl XLIV predictions: - BostonHerald.com

The Boston media laughed at NE fans deluded support for the Saints. Just like they laugh at the support for the guys who brought us 3 Lombardi's and 4 trips to the Superbowl this decade.

It's a sad commentary revisited every season when the HOF voters meet that a guy who lost his job for plagerizing cast's the Boston vote largely because no one else is qualified to...

The percentage of people that post on forums or really follow the team closely is very small compared to everyone who reads/listens to these morons. They don't do it for ratings, they are going to get their ratings no matter what. They have a complex.

Yeah the complex is MONEY. The higher the ratings the more money they can ask for.

Well is it like that in all the other markets?

In Washingto D.C, no way. THe team has to be EGREGIOUSLY bad to get anyone to say anything critical. But when they're winning even half of their games, it's rainbows and unicorns.
