It was silly of some to think that a Colts win would have made them the team of the decade.

But now the deal is sealed, there can be not logical or rational debates. The New England Patriots are the Team of the Decade. Four AFC Championships, 3 Super Bowl Championships, and 126 total wins.

The media will probably overlook this and won't call the Patriots the Team of eh Decade as they would gleefully call the Colts. But we all know the facts now and they cannot be disputed.

No debate needed. That was completely stomped out, washed away and put away with Manning's pick 6 to Porter. I just hope Brady gets another shot at a Super Bowl because the window is closing. Brady isn't getting any younger.

Yeah, but the Colts won more regular season games!

Last week NFL Films already stated the Pats are the team of the decade.

Teams of the Decade: 1) New England Patriots
2) Pittsburgh Steelers
3) Indianapolis Colts

Yep. Factor in the 7 division titles, 14 playoff wins, the 16-0 season and greatest offense in NFL history, and the longest win streak in NFL history and you have a truly amazing decade. I'm just glad it happened to my team and hopefully the success will continue.

Re: New England Patriots:Team of the Decade!!

For all but 1 season in the decade, the colts choked when it mattered the most. There is no way they are the team of the decade unless you only count regular season wins and playoff losses :)

It was a stupid debate before that took place

3 SBs > 2 (steelers and Colts if they had won)

Not to mention the Pats won more games including the playoffs

Was there ever any question.

Fixed that for you :)

Nothing made me happier last night than to see this finally put to bed as something that could even be logically discussed. Finally, the Manning ballwashers do not have a leg to stand on........

Well I heard Boomer last night on ESPN saying the Colts lost any chance of being TOD. So, in the mediots mind, there was a question, stupid as it was.

They were not standing; they were on their knees when they did all that ballwashing.

I didn't know this until last night when I heard some commentators talking about Indy having the most RS wins this decade to prop up their argument that Indy is even in the picture.

In what universe does it remotely matter that you've won more RS games than the Pats, but less when you include playoff games?

I've never understood people who talk about Regular Season winning streaks, etc. and act is if playoff games are irrelevant.

This thread is made of win.

It is the price of the Internet and 24 hour coverage. Everything has to be the greatest ever or people will tune out. The narrative was determined before the game began.

If the Colts win, play the Manning hypermnesia (WTF was that about anyway?) and aw-shucks family stories, declaring him the greatest QB of all time.

If the Saints win, play the Saints Katrina profiles, declaring them the greatest comeback story of all time.

In 2007, the media also couldn't lose. The Pats would be the greatest team of all time or the Giants would have pulled off the greatest upset of all time.

For those of us whose memories span more than 12 months, it does seem kind of silly. The media hopes that nobody remembers the '85 Bears, the Cowboys/Niners rivalry, Air Coryell, etc. (and that is just the last 30 years). All of them great in their own way.

Trying to declare anyone/anything greatest of all time sort of misses the point. The Egyptians were the greatest civilization of all time...at one point in time. Obviously the passage of time changes everything, including value systems.

So the best anyone can really hope for is to be the Greatest of Their Time (GOTT?) For the NFL, a decade seem about right. So I think it is fair to call the Pats and Brady GOTTs. The Colts will have to be satisfied to be just south of that level. Not a bad place to be and the view looks pretty good to Eagles and Bills fans.

It's official, we're not "chasing the Colts" anymore :rocker: Hopefully sanity will prevail here once again:p

goes with out saying..... Love the irony how Archie Manning's old team knocks son out of Super Bowl.

Archie- 1st QB to win in Super Dome (a SAINT btw)

Peyton- Knocked out by SAINTS who win 1st Super Bowl in '10
