Yeah, I broke it all down once, but I don't have the data all in front of me. I had him slotted in the 8-12 range, depending upon how I weighted certain factors. In no particular order, I've got him behind Brady, Starr, Graham, Baugh, Unitas, Montana and Staubach, and in a group with Elway, Young, Favre and Bradshaw.

I also think Bradshaw should be up a notch, and ahead of Staubach. They were contemporaries and Bradshaw won 4 SBs to 2. Bradshaw gets a bad rap because of the defense and the fact that he won one in 74 when he had a bad year, but he became the focal point of the team for the last 2, and was good in 75 too. His stats get killed too, but the game was totally different. Compared to players in his era his stats were good. Compared to QBs after all the rule changes isn't realistic.

i don't think i ever say aikman choke esp. in a big game. 3 super bowls in 4 years is amazing and he is probably the most accurate qb in NFL history.

When you match Staubach up to Bradshaw in a head-to-head, you've got to remember that Staubach missed about 5 years due to military service and didn't even get into the league until he was a 27 year old rookie. That certainly impacts longevity awards and gives Bradshaw an edge in years played, as well as robbing Staubach of some peak physical years.

This isn't a commentary on Reiss. However, the way the media is already reacting (by retracting the "Manning GOAT" assertion after he choked tonight) is exactly what I've been complaining about for the past two weeks. The media is about as fickle as it gets, latching onto the Flavor of the Month. I really just wish everyone would wait until these two retire to compare them and then decide who is the best.

The media is a bunch of clueless fickle biatches. It is fun when for one night their bs sounds like what most of us have said all along. At least for tonight, we can enjoy it.

Not that either is right or wrong, which is why this kind of debate is hard to get agreement in, since the criteria of 'best' is not fully defined.

Just an FYI. I don't do any "what if" about Staubach, because I don't think it's necessary. I simply noted it as a reality and something that has to be acknowledged. He was a better QB than Bradshaw, IMO, DESPITE missing those 5 years. The significance of that time is in regards to career numbers, since Bradshaw was able to play more years as a result.
