This isn't a commentary on Reiss. However, the way the media is already reacting (by retracting the "Manning GOAT" assertion after he choked tonight) is exactly what I've been complaining about for the past two weeks. The media is about as fickle as it gets, latching onto the Flavor of the Month. I really just wish everyone would wait until these two retire to compare them and then decide who is the best.

i agree with kon. i dont think anyone ever thought manning was a better clutch player than brady.

and brady has made his fair share of mistakes in games. threw a big int in the end zone in the super bowl v panthers.

manning is great, brady is great. you get either one of them your franchise wins for a decade and doubles in value

I couldn't of said it better myself. The part that people tend to forget about 07 is Brady did lead his team to a lead late in the 4th quarter with a td to Moss. The defense just couldn't hold.

I feel bad for Manning (just a little bit ), but that was just an epic choke that made the difference in the game. I'd like to think that Brady would not have made a throw like that in a game that big, but I don't know. Part of the reason this year was so frustrating for Brady IMO is that he basically had Moss double and triple covered and when we lost Wes he had NO ONE he trusted to be where they were supposed to be when he threw the ball. Turnovers are the name of the game and Brady just didn't have anyone he could rely on once Welker went down.

No doubt about it that Manning had a superior team to the Patriots around him this year, but in the end he coughed up a hairball in the biggest one of them all and lost the game for his team. Beautiful.

If not for the utter ineptitude of the 2006-07 Bears, Pay-me would have ZILCH to show for all the ballwashing he gets. This definitely isn't the end for Peyton and Colts, but it's a good start, and what a beautiful night it was for the Saints and all of us who hate Dungy, the Colts and their idiotic fans.

I agree with Kontradiction on this one. If Brady is playing well, he is the best ever, then, number 18(like they say), is the best players this league as ever seen, if Brady isn't playng well.

Every regular season, Manning wows the ballwashers, both in the media and elsewhere. It takes the playoffs for them to get their reminders of the true order of the QB pyramid.

Though I don't think you're getting me wrong on this (you and I are usually on the same wavelength), I think I should clarify that, by the time they finish their careers, Brady will be looked at as the better QB. By a comfortable margin, I might add.

I agree. One more SB win and the only question is Brady/Montana for the GOAT. Manning shouldn't even be in that conversation, and I've been saying that for years.

I wouldn't have a gripe with putting him in the top 10, just because of his statistical accomplishments. But I would not put him in the top 5.

sometimes having a head coach helps. i bet bb wouldve gone for the 4th and short with manning instead of trying a 51 FG when their defense was getting shredded by the saints.caldwell proved he doesnt make any decisions and just stands on the sideline..

I'd like to thinks so, but if the Colts had won in any fashion tonight the National consensus would have been that Manning was/is better than Brady. 3 vs. 2 Superbowls would have been forgotten. Manning with all of those MVPs would have been viewed as the better QB.

I saw Steve Young say that he could not remember Manning giving the game away in a big game. H obviously had a mental block on the early 90s when the Pats made Manning look awful in the playoffs year after year. One of the other commentators then pointed out that Manning was now 9-9 in the playoffs. 9-s in the playoffs. Case closed, Brady wins.

Yeah, I broke it all down once, but I don't have the data all in front of me. I had him slotted in the 8-12 range, depending upon how I weighted certain factors. In no particular order, I've got him behind Brady, Starr, Graham, Baugh, Unitas, Montana and Staubach, and in a group with Elway, Young, Favre and Bradshaw.

I'm pretty sure Manning audibled on that last drive on 3rd down and decided to run the ball (which was idiotic to begin with because the Saints knew it was coming) and not running on 2nd down.

That was horrible play calling by Manning and Moore on the final drive with goal-to-go. It reminded me so much in 2003 when the Patriots had that goal line stand against the Colts. Almost identical the playcalling.

People should also be talking about that.

And, in that same game, in the same position against the Panthers, Brady threw a TD, a 2 point conversion, and then lead them on the final game winning drive.
