actually karlos dansby was recruited by auburn to play strong safety they moved him to outside linebacker during his sophomore season
from 2004 to 2006 he played SOLB in 2007 he was moved to WOLB and in 2009 he was moved to the inside he can play both outside and inside i would perfer him on the outside because he is very good in coverage and we were horrible covering the flats last season and as for dunlap he weighs 290 he would have to lose at least 25lbs to even be considered for outside linebacker.

Really because last time I checked Willie was well above 265 and Julius Peppers who is a good enough athlete to play OLB is about 285. Dunlap could prove to be just athletic as Peppers and he probably would play OLB for us. As for Dansby, why would we sign him to move him to OLB when a) Their are better Pass rushing options through Free agency and b) we have a hole at ILB (guyton isnt a run stuffer) and Dansby has played ILB for the last two seasons. We were worse in Pass rush than in flat coverage, which is more important?

I'm not sure if #13 is within reach, as far as Belichick is concerned. If it is, he's my target.

A solid choice, considering the remaining options. In this draft, round one prospects don't thrill me as much as they do from round two on.

Why do people say this EVERY year? It's always: "you can get just as much talent in the second round as in the first round". It never fails.

Why are the Colts picking #32 in this mock?

Talent/value is still demonstrably better in the second round, particularly when weighing "fit." The biggest challenge for draftniks is guessing where BB looks to take the team.

I agree with you on the Russell Okung pick to the Lions. I hear that the front office likes Jeff Backus but come on he has been around a few years and they need someone to be protecting Matt Stafford for the next ten years. After passing on Michael Oher and William Beatty in last years draft. I hope for Matt's sake they know what they are doing.

wanted to Chime in with my own pre combine mock. Thoughts please.

1 St. Louis Rams. Ndamukong Suh, DT - when your giving 50 mil at #1 and its not a QB you gotta take the surest thing.

2 Detroit Lions - Gerald McCoy, DT - could go a number of different ways. OL would be nice to protect Stafford but I see Schwartz staying with his roots and going D

3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. - Russell Okung ,LT Tampa has needs everywhere. This is the first spot that you could see a deal. I can see tampa staying safe and taking the best tackle in the draft and a starter for 10 years

4 Washington Redskins - QB, Sam Bradford - Shannahan likes mobile accurate QB's to run his Offense. I can see Bradford running that fake bootleg offense. Gotta shake the shotgun out of him though

5 Kansas City Chiefs. Eric Berry, S good spot for a deal if someone is in love w/ claussen -

6 Seattle Seahawks. Jimmy Clausen, QB - this is all about what I've read as I don't personally like Clausen. Makes sense to draft Hastlebacks replacement since he kind of sucks now.

7 Cleveland Browns. Joe Haden, CB great fit right here. Mangina knows the value of a shut down corner

8 Oakland Raiders. Jason Pierre-Paul DE/OLB - tough for Al Davis to not draft a Physical freak who will blow up at the combine ala Ghoulston

9 Buffalo Bills. Dez Bryant, WR will get the explosion the deep threat they thought they were getting with TO. Have to keep the QB upright so OL is a possibility

10 Jacksonville Jaguars. Derrick Morgan, DE/OLB Jax was last in the league in sacks despite taking two pass rushers early in the 08 draft

11 Denver Broncos. Mt. Cody, NT tough to project this spot w/o knowing what happens with Dummerville and Marshall but a giant run stuffer in a 3-4 sounds like a good pick. We all know the concerns with this guy but I’m betting he sheds 15 lbs by the combine.

12 Miami Dolphins. Brandon Graham, OLB Sporano saw up close what this kid can do. I’m pissed when I hear his name called because he would look great as a Pat.

13 San Francisco. Carlos Dunlop, DE/OLB Played mostly with a hand on the ground and will have to stand up in SF’s D. Another Physical freak.

14 Seattle Seahawks. CJ Spiller, RB I’m pissed again as Seattle takes a playmaker who will probably be the offensive ROY

15 New York Giants. Sean Wetherspoon, ILB /OLB should replace Antonio pierce in the middle of the Giants D. Love this guy’s attitude.

16 Tennessee Titans. Dan Williams, NT - Tenn has lost Haynes worth and probably vandenbosch in back to back years.

17 San Francisco 49ers. Anthony Davis, T, should fit at RT and bolster the OL for San Fran

18 Pittsburgh Steelers. Trent Williams, OL Stillers need to replace an ageing OL. Donovan Warren, CB

19 Atlanta Falcons. Kyle Wilson, CB – should be a big riser at the combine. Atl was horrible vs the pass

20 Houston Texans. Taylor Mays, S - Texans grab the centerfielder they need to match up vs the colts twice year

21 Cincinnati Bengals. Jermaine Gresham,TE - pathetic offense needs help.

22 New England Patriots. Brian Price DT, I don’t see another proven 3-4 OLB on the board and with reach pick spiller gone the Pats take the disruptive DT.

23 Green Bay Packers. Bryan,Bulaga – should take over for Chad Clifton and protect Rodgers blindside

24 Philadelphia Eagles. Mike Iupati , G – Good value here as long as he stops holding

25 Baltimore Ravens. – Golden Tate, WR gotta help Flacco out and when your best WR is 40 its time to start over at that position.

26 Arizona Cardinals. Earl Thomas, S, not sure if Adrian Wilson is back here so this makes sense

27 Dallas Cowboys. Daryl Washington, ILB/OLB – couldn’t really find a huge need so a playmaking 3-4 LB fits the bill.

28 San Diego Chargers. Jonathan Dwyer, RB SD has the explosive 3rd down back but they need a hammer to supplant LT.

29 New York Jets. – Patrick Robinson,CB big physical CB to go alongside the best CB in the league. Odrick a possibility her as well

30 New England Patriots (from Minnesota Vikings) Ryan Mathews, RB. Minn needs a CB to replace Winfield in a couple of years but the value is just not there so they deal the pick for NE's own 1st rd next year (#32). Pats end up wit an absolute Beast playmaker.

31 New Orleans Saints. Jahvid Best, RB Saints grab Reggie Bush’s replacement

32 Indianapolis Colts. Jarad Odrick, DT nonstop motor adds depth and size to Colts DL

The Price pick sucks, we just picked ron brace last year adn now were picking another NT? Then we go ahead and trade up for Ryan Matthews who is another major reach? Id probably break my tv if we made either of these picks. Alot of holes here, no McClain and Washington going in the first are two major ones but there are more. Good try though.

Ya, screwd up on McClain. I had him around miami but must have not retained him during one of my edits. I'm going to have to disaggree withe you on Price and Matthews. if you compare Price and Brace than Id argue that you'd never seen Price play. Curious why u don't like Matthews?

A couple:

-- How do you get through the entire first round and no one wants Rolando McClain? ;)

-- Terrence Cody to Denver sounds nice, but isn't their 3-4 D a Pittsburgh/Baltimore penetrating style (unless the new DC is from the Parcells' tree)? The other consideration I'd make is whether Cody playing half of his games at Denver's altitude isn't going to be gassed even faster? Dan Williams who gets compared more to Vince Wilfork might be preferable to Denver for those two reasons - assuming they don't wait and get one of the other kids in a later round.

I like Matthews but hes not a first rounder, Id take him with one of our latter two seconds but no way Id trade up for him. As for Price, Im assuming you dont think we re-sign wilfork which is fine but, we have Brace whom we spent a second on just last year. You dont just give up on him after one year unless you have a cant miss prospect which Price isnt. Id much rather go with Odrick who would come in and play DE for us.

Thanks, good feedback. I had Mclain down but just kept moving without him. Obviously he fits into the top 15.

I think under Nolan Denver played more penetrating style , but with the Pee's rumors to Denver I'm thinking JM wants to see more of a 2 gap 3-4 which Cody would thrive.

Isn't the reason Nolan parted ways with Denver because McDaniels didn't want to play a penetrating, blitz-happy type of defense like Baltimore and Pitt?

It's also weird that Nolan went to Miami with his more penetrating style with Parcells still there. I know it's Sparano's team, but I would think Parcells would want him playing his type of defense, unless Parcells is in favor of switching to a more penetrating style.

I don't know why Nolan is no longer in Denver, other than it may be related to the way the team fell apart after their strong start. As far as McDaniel's plans for the D's playing style, the article was specific - no change.

Many fans have advocated for NE to switch to that blitzburgh/Balltimore attacking style Nolan runs, perhaps Sparano and Ireland are in that camp and want to get away from the LOS control game of Parcells and Belichick to be more aggressive? :confused2:

That's interesting because I remember reading this article a few weeks ago, and this was though to be the reason for the split.

McDaniels: Less Blitzing

I thought McDaniels wanted to get away from Nolan's style and go to more of the BB/Parcells style of controlling the LOS as you said, since that's the defense that was used while he was being groomed in NE.

The Miami thing I find interesting as well. I think Sparano was the main guy behind the hiring. Found an article here on it.

Dolphins Interested In Nolan

Nolan, who transitioned the Broncos to a 3-4 defense last year, is known for his aggressive, attacking style - something Dolphins coach Tony Sparano has been desiring in his replacement for Pasqualoni.

He is also familiar with Bill Parcells' philosophies, having served as defensive coordinator with the Jets when Parcells was the team's general manager in 2000.

Those rumours about McDaniels not liking all the blitzing was pretty much shot down by everybody, including Josh and Nolan.

Interesting. You have any links? I don't remember reading anything about it being shot down.
