3rd and 5 from the Giants 44 yard line with 1:15 remaining.

It should've been 4th and 15 from the Giants 34 yard line. Instead the play gained 32 yards for the Giants and gave them a first down with 59 seconds left.

Sorry but are rules completely thrown out the window in the last minute of the biggest game of the year? This is by far the worst non-call I've ever seen.

Yes I understand human error. I understand certain calls will be missed sometimes.

But it's as if there were no referees at all during this play. there are THREE separate holding penalties that couldve been called in Picture frame 1. Then #96 being held for the entire play. Then being held by two different linemen at the end of the play.

In frame 2, it looks like theres only 3 Patriots in the scene. There was actually 4. Seymour was behind Green. Both were being held. How else would Manning have gotten away from two guys right behind him with clear shots on him.

OLinemen are not allowed to hook, grab jerseys, block in the back.... unless it's the most important play of the SuperBowl when the game is on the line.

Ridiculous. Then take into account all the late hits allowed on Brady during that game. And it's no wonder I have no desire to watch the SuperBowl this weekend. The team the league wants to win, will win.

It's probably time to let it go

Funny thing is, this play was named by NFL films as the "Play of the Decade".

And on the replay, holding is clearly evident.

NFL Films also named the Pats the Team of the Decade

and BB Coach of the Decade.

Rebroadcast today at 11am on the NFL network...worth taping!

You sound like a Rams fan after the Pats beat them.

If you are going to hang you football life on holding calls...never watch football again...

And if it had been 4th and 15 who says they wouldn't have converted it? Any number of plays on that drive the Pats make the game is over and they are 19-0 but they didn't.
The perfect season just wasn't in the stars.
Try and move on.

I hear you MrDrake. I know you are not waking up at 2am with cold sweats over SB 42, but pouring over holding calls just brings on too much negative emotion for me. Not sure how you can do it!

Re: 2 Years later... Is this the worst Missed-Penalty of all time?

Maybe Matt Light should have held instead of 2 false starts........

Re: 2 Years later... Is this the worst Missed-Penalty of all time?

I can understand missing one, but 3 or 4 is just bad.

Still, the Pats did themselves no favors in that game. Just a very flat performance that night. Too bad.

Can't we all just move on people...

PATs were not going to win that game from the get go. No way ...No how!

How could the NFL give them a Lombardi when everyone was calling
them cheaters all year long? There was no way they would let that happen.
There were no way going to let cheaters get the 19-0 record. No way.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised to find out Belichick was given an ultimatum.
Did he even make one adjustment when the aints were getting to Brady?

Ever hear the phrase "They could call offensive holding on every play"? There is a reason for that. Because they can.

Let's move on! Let's not turn this thread into something similiar to that ludicrious website a Rams fan started about 5-6 years ago trying to claim legal hits in bounds were late hits out of bounds (the guy didn't understand the actual rule) and other bogus logic why the refs screwed them.

Re: 2 Years later... Is this the worst Missed-Penalty of all time?

It's funny how the other 59 minutes and 45 seconds or so are never brought up in the time the Patriots should have wiped the floor with the Giants.

Move on, man.

I sure wish we held a little more...

I think we should all just consider it karmic repayment for the tuck rule game and move on.

Why do you do this to yourself?

Threads like this are embarrassing to the rest of us and lend credence to the point that Dan Shaughnessy made in the Globe today about Pats fans living in the past.

It's over. It happened. I am sure the Rams and other teams that we disappointed have similar beefs and could produce similar pictoramas. I'm sure there are Raiders' fans with dissections of the Tuck Call broken down by milliseconds in their favor.

Let it go.

The only relevant question is whether the Brady/Belichick Pats can win another SB in the next three or four years. Period.
