The amount of media cred this guy gets is asinine. He is not a good coach. He leaves the Bucs, they win the Super Bowl the next year. He leaves the Colts, they nearly go undefeated. His credibility is entirely based on his players liking him, giving spiffy quotes to the media, and discussing his faith publicly. He is Herm Edwards with better talent. If BB had said that he would have had a difficult time coaching an openly gay player (like Dungy did), he would have gotten killed by the national media. Could you imagine the field day Peter King and Gregg Easterbrook would have had with that one?

His opinion shouldn't matter anymore than any other decent, but now in the studio former NFL coach. But because he is St. Dungy, people will treat it as Gospel and a truly persuasive and authorative opinion on the Brady v. Manning debate.

I don't see how Dungy's quote is a bad thing. If you weren't a homer, you would understand that Manning was far more dangerous than Brady this year. I wouldn't doubt that the Colts scored a lot more points than New England in the 1st half/4th quarter this season. New England couldn't even scored in the 2nd half a lot of the time this year. What is everyone whining about?

1) Would Dungy have done this in 03,04, or 07??? No and actually look at Colts v Pats games those years they went for 4th downs quite regularly. Ask him this question 4 years ago his answer would have been "I thought it was a good move" where was Rodney to say "hey coach how'd that work for you on the goal line??!!"" :rocker:

Dungy is a DB. He's not objective at all and clearly favors his former team/players. I don't know how he has a job with NBC considering how subjective he is. At least Harrison speaks the truth and how he feels, and is objective while doing so. He's called out BB and Brady and isn't afraid to criticize the Pats.

Another thing people don't realize is that the Pats have gone for it on 4th down quite consistently over the last few years. It wasn't just this game, it's been something that Belichick likes to do. He did it on numerous occasions in 2009, including two or three times in the opener vs Buffalo! Also did it at his own 29 vs Atlanta.

And quite honestly, it was the right decision vs Indy, and Faulk did have the first down but I blame Brady for not having any timeouts left. You shouldn't need to take a timeout before 1st down, that was poor timeout management. I had more confidence in our offense to pick up 2 yards with the way we'd sliced and diced Indy all night than I did in our defense to get a stop after seeing Manning go right down the field against our prevent D. It was a bold move but I felt it was necessary.

I hope the Colts get their doors blown off by the Saints and Dungy cries himself to sleep. Douche.

Actually based on strength of schedule and add in the fact that Peyton's schedle was amazingly easy, Brady was actually a bit better this year...
