"Your coach wouldn't punt the ball to Peyton," Dungy said, in referring to Patriots coach Bill Belichick's decision to go for it on fourth-and-2 at his own 28 late in the game rather than punt the ball to Manning. The Colts held and Manning negotiated the short distance for a game-winning score in a 35-34 primetime classic Nov. 15 at Lucas Oil Stadium."I would punt the ball to Tom Brady with one minute left," Dungy said.

he's getting to be real annoying. i thought his prediciton that the colts would demolish the saints to be ridiculous. if anything, the super bowl will be close.

The Saints must have paid him off this week. Every day this week, he comes out with a new gem for the bulletin board...

"Dungy shows lack of confidence in Manning and the Colt offence after admitting he would have punted at four and two"

This spin stuff is easy.

Is that a mis-quote or something, what's that have to do with anything? There were 2 minutes or maybe more during 4th and 2 (I would check but I really have no interest in looking up anything related to that game)

Brady is the best player the Patriots have, putting him on the field to try and win the game is not as bad as a move as the media wants you to think.

Not sure what you're saying here. Not a bad move from the opposing team's perspective or the Pats?

The amount of media cred this guy gets is asinine. He is not a good coach. He leaves the Bucs, they win the Super Bowl the next year. He leaves the Colts, they nearly go undefeated. His credibility is entirely based on his players liking him, giving spiffy quotes to the media, and discussing his faith publicly. He is Herm Edwards with better talent. If BB had said that he would have had a difficult time coaching an openly gay player (like Dungy did), he would have gotten killed by the national media. Could you imagine the field day Peter King and Gregg Easterbrook would have had with that one?

His opinion shouldn't matter anymore than any other decent, but now in the studio former NFL coach. But because he is St. Dungy, people will treat it as Gospel and a truly persuasive and authorative opinion on the Brady v. Manning debate.

Not only that, but THEY MADE IT ON 4TH AND TWO. So...F off Dungy.

They did make it, but they did not get credit for it. I wonder what the reaction would have been had it been a first down and the won the game.

Yeah...and Eli Manning was actually sacked. Keep living through your dreams. Don't bother waking up.

I don't see how Dungy's quote is a bad thing. If you weren't a homer, you would understand that Manning was far more dangerous than Brady this year. I wouldn't doubt that the Colts scored a lot more points than New England in the 1st half/4th quarter this season. New England couldn't even scored in the 2nd half a lot of the time this year. What is everyone whining about?

not that it would have made a difference this year, but I would have punted

I wonder if anybody will pick up on this story if the Colts win, but...

That'll make 2 teams that won the Super Bowl the year AFTER ridding themselves of Tony Dungy.

Of course, no one will mention it though.

I am thoroughly upset with this forum!! Where is the obscure "I don't agree with what the Patriots are doing" responses followed by the "I kinda like what they are doing now!" I mean come on this bleeds similarities its scary

1) Would Dungy have done this in 03,04, or 07??? No and actually look at Colts v Pats games those years they went for 4th downs quite regularly. Ask him this question 4 years ago his answer would have been "I thought it was a good move" where was Rodney to say "hey coach how'd that work for you on the goal line??!!"" :rocker:

i liked him more when he was a coach and didnt say much

Holier than thou DOUCHEBAG is what Dungy is.
He can take his love for that ****** Vick and GFH, and I can't wait till his closet gets rattled....his holieness makes me wanna PUKE.

Dungy is a DB. He's not objective at all and clearly favors his former team/players. I don't know how he has a job with NBC considering how subjective he is. At least Harrison speaks the truth and how he feels, and is objective while doing so. He's called out BB and Brady and isn't afraid to criticize the Pats.

Another thing people don't realize is that the Pats have gone for it on 4th down quite consistently over the last few years. It wasn't just this game, it's been something that Belichick likes to do. He did it on numerous occasions in 2009, including two or three times in the opener vs Buffalo! Also did it at his own 29 vs Atlanta.

And quite honestly, it was the right decision vs Indy, and Faulk did have the first down but I blame Brady for not having any timeouts left. You shouldn't need to take a timeout before 1st down, that was poor timeout management. I had more confidence in our offense to pick up 2 yards with the way we'd sliced and diced Indy all night than I did in our defense to get a stop after seeing Manning go right down the field against our prevent D. It was a bold move but I felt it was necessary.

I hope the Colts get their doors blown off by the Saints and Dungy cries himself to sleep. Douche.

Actually based on strength of schedule and add in the fact that Peyton's schedle was amazingly easy, Brady was actually a bit better this year...
