Silver: Premature to close the door on Brady

Unbiased and sensible column. Pleasantly surprised that Silver didn't make any of the anti-Pats remarks that he usually dings us with. :)

Duh... Sad that amidst the hysteria of his mediot peers it's come down to Silver playing captain obvious...

Premature to close the door on Brady

Dur! I mean, the guy's only 33, right? Yeah, his career is ova.

How about Rothlesberger? His team didn't even make the playoffs...is it too soon to close the door on him? How about Philip Rivers?

Give me a break.

because he has a good personal relationship with brady. not so much with the pats. thats why he has written this article.

It's worse than that. I think it's just evidence of institutional creep (starting the retail seasons earlier and earlier). Tom is 32. Won't be 33 until August. Manning on the other hand will only be 33 for another 6 weeks...then he will be... 34

Actually Silver had a falling out with both the player and the organization. He used to be a personal friend, a relationship developed/cultivated over time when he was with SI. He kind of went off the rails between spygate and babygate and they haven't had a relationship since.

Just another reason to hate David Tyree, he's the man responsible for all this talk.

I want to see Brady get another ring just to put the nail in the coffin in this discussion. With 2:30 left in SB42, was there any doubt who the best QB of this era was?

Silver: The sky is blue

Don't see anything wrong with the article. We need sportswriters to be this balanced and not follow the flavor of the month. And it's ok that you don't have to agree with him all the time.

Funny. Why hate the guy for doing his job? You should blame Samuel for leaving his man in the first place. You should blame Sanders and Hobbs for watching the play unfold. Blame Rodney Harrison for not breaking up the pass (but at least he tried). There should've been at least 3 guys breaking up that pass but they chose to pick their nose instead.

Silver has been a Brady ball washer since he wrote an article on Brady for SI back in 2001. He is the only one in the media that I know who calls Brady Tommy (what Brady's friends call him).

Agreed, good point. Samuel and Sanders were standing by and watching. Meriweather had an easy pick later that drive. Samuel dropped a sure INT earlier that drive. The time operator stopped the clock for a good 30 seconds in which it should've been running. There's plenty of people to hate, and you're right, Tyree was just doing his job.

It's funny, we're now 2 years from that game, and it still can ruin any given day just by the mere mention of it. **** Super Bowl 42.

That ship sailed when Jack was born. Silver had a little binky meltdown and tore Tommy a new one. On the heels of being pretty scathing during sypgate. They haven't been an item since. What he says here is just common sense, which is why so many people can't grasp it.

I don't disagree with him, but I don't look at him as objective. I don't follow him much so I will defer to you about his falling out with Brady.

It pains me to think about it too. It's been two years and I still can't believe they lost that game.

What part of the game did the time operator stop the clock? I didn't even notice it because I was getting so stressed out. I don't think I've ever been so stressed out over a football as I was during super bowl 42.

After the 4th & 1. It wasn't brutal or anything, basically they never re-started the clock after the 1st down was signaled.

YouTube - Superbowl: Patriots screwed by officials on game clock

Warning, you may want to commit unspeakable acts of violence by watching that video.

So was this game clock error ever acknowledged by the NFL?
