Thomas: Spat with Belichick started after Week 1

Interestingly enough week 1 was his best week performance-wise.

I had high hopes for Thomas ever since he was signed, never lived up to expectations from day one but I could not call him a disappointment up until last season and recent months. Time to move on without him...

Why are they trying to get Vinatieri's thoughts on this? They were never teammates.

Wouldn't be shocked if it started back in 2007 when BB brought in a guy coming off of a 11 sack season, only to put him at ILB. I'm sure he's hated his role since he got here. When he's cut, he will be a Jet and register at least 10 sacks.

Just don't understand this at all. Would love to hear BBs pov on AD, what he wasn't doing. Thought what we saw from AD in the Super Bowl was a sign of things to come. IIRC he barely left the field in 2008 until getting hurt. Did his pass rush skills really deteriorate that much in '09? Seems so strange to me that he basically be came just a run-stopping OLB, especially with our pass rush struggles all year.

Yeah would of loved to see him play at OLB from day one and see what kind of results he could of produced. Not too sure Jets can sign any big name free agents since they were one of the last 8 teams remaining, not too sure on how that works though.

The ILB thing didn't seem to bother Vrabel too much, or Bruschi for that matter, although Bruschi made the transition initially and long-term. Vrabel played exactly the same role a couple years earlier.

On the Jets and AD - if the Patriots cut him, he doesn't count against the Rule of Eight restriction. Only end-of-contract Unrestricted Free Agents. Jets could pick him up without restraints.

It's stupid for AD to be airing dirty laundry like this. Stupid and classless.

Why would the result be any different if he played OLB day 1 instead of day a 1 and a half

Went to the SportsHub's website HOPING to find the interview and nada...UUGHHH....

I'll give EEI credit for this, they get a good interview it's on the website.

You'd think something like this for 98.5 would have gone up immediately.

(unless it's taped for tomorrow - but from the sounds of it from curran it was from today.

The guy was brought in for his versatility. The reason why the Pats went after him was because he could play any of the LB positions, DE, and even in the secondary. That is obviously what Belichick sold him on coming here. If he was upset about his role right off the bat, it is his own fault and screw him.

Belichick's job isn't to play his players the way they want to play. His job is to put his players in the best postion to win games. If Thomas had a problem with how that was being done and he was petty about it and pouted all season long, that is his problem and he has no right to be on this team. Good luck somewhere else.

My guess is if Ray Lewis feels so little about Thomas' abilities, Rex Ryan might not feel all that much for him either. I don't think Thomas is an upgrade over Calvin Pace or Bryan Thomas. And thinking he is not as good as Bryan Thomas is pretty damning since Bryan is very average.

Well, Felger and Mazz are broadcasting out of Florida this week for the Super Bowl. It might be delaying things with most of their staff down there.

Holley, who has maintailed a relationship with Rosie Colvin since he retired, has been saying all along that AD was a handful from the day he arrived. He came from an undisciplined system where the inmates ran the asylum and he was not shy about voicing his opinion about what he thought the defense - or he - should be doing. Guys like Rosie and Rodney and Tedy had to get all over his case about not caring how they did things in Baltimore, we had our own way of doing things here and that was something he needed to embrace... I think he was manageable while any of them remained, and once they left he wasn't. Whether it was not liking the Seymour trade or not liking a game plan...

Apparently he was also singing Dean Pees praises in the interview...

He'll be gone soon for a conditional pick that could be as low as a 2012 7th rounder...just so Bill tell him one more time where to go...

Nothing really surprising or particularly newsworthy in the links. I didn't catch the interview, so maybe more light was shed there, but this isn't really anything of note, IMO.

Kinda like it was stupid and classless of someone to air BB's personnel laundry.... just sayin...

Alright, only a few people know what you're referring to there. Let's not start a fight over something over three years old.

yea i dont think you can put this all on AD, i personally think he has been mis-used during his time in NE.

yea you brought him in due to his versatility but when he was in baltimore he was moved around because of need/injuries to other positions,

this year we never really had a guy to rush the passer and im sure he thought this was his time but instead BB made AD a run stopper and told TBC to rush the passer

i still think AD is the best pure passrusher on the current roster and while i hope he does stay on its obviously highly unlikely

Not trying to start a fight. Just pointing out the irony....
