whats everyone's thought on him? Is he a good fit for the Pats? Is a RB or FB? Can he be a starter in the NFL? What round will he go in? etc.

I don't think he'll ever be a feature RB in the NFL.

I think his ceiling is FB/short yardage/H-back.

I think he will be a pretty good back in the NFL...Tate, RB from Auburn will be the best back in this draft imo and would love if the Pats got him. He is a stud

Running backs are pretty hard to gauge.

Ray Rice dominated in college but was over-analyzed and said to be lacking.

He's kind of a big, slow, stiff, awkward, upright running style type of guy. He gets some yards but it always seems like there's a huge hole for him. Unlike anything I've seen in the NFL.

At least that's my impression of him.

Didn't BB draft touchdown tommy vardell who also was from Stanford?

Uh-oh.

I've been big on this kid since the Stanford vs. USC game. People are just in disbelief about Toby. No other RB did what he did to the USC defense and should've won the heisman. Look at his highlight reel on youtube, i see him being an every down RB.

Featured RB? No. What he did to USC was probably as much to the credit of his O-line and FB as it was to him. They opened some holes that even Maroney couldn't have missed. However, I think he'd do better than Sammy Morris in the same type of role with the Pats and would likely be on the injury report a lot less. If Gerhart is still there in the 4th, I'd take him. He'd still be an upgrade over who we have now, if only an incremental one. Might be able to pick up Ben Tate of Andre Dixon in the 6th, too (wishful thinking?) for someone to develop into more of a featured guy.

To me, the big thing that helps the ground game is to get Brady more targets available in the passing game so that defenses can't get sufficient pressure bringing five guys (the apparent "magic number" for drastically reducing Brady's effectiveness in 2009). If they can only afford four rushers, that opens things up more for draws and screens.

I can't say I know anything about him. Is he supposed to be another Mike Alstott?

OK, as you've noticed I've removed the posts for those involved in the recent argument. Let's break it up - I'm not getting involved in any personal altercations, however I'm suggesting that the offending parties avoid any further confrontation and work toward keeping this thread on topic.

If we didn't draft any players who played at the same position and school as busts, nobody would ever draft a Big 10 running back or Florida WR or USC DL again.

I saw him in a couple games. Showed some speed breaking clear, powerful, gives it everything he has. I would like to see him or Tate with the Pats along with Dexter McCluster.
