I actually like how this draft turns out. Except I'd prefer another pass rusher to Graham - Pierre Paul, Sapp and Hughes are all available. And I'd rather take Mathews than Best.

You read my mind with Duccasse too high at 37. I also wonder whether the Pats would pass on Kyle Wilson for a post injury TE. Hughes at 35 seems too low. , and unfortunately they have us trading a young reciever J. Ford to make the Burgess trade happen. Too bad considering WR seems like a big hole right now.

I actually love this draft. Graham will be an immediate contributor and would be a great help as an edge rusher - a true need on this D. I think TE will be addressed in the draft and while I might personally prefer Gresham, Gronkowski is a solid blocker and effective receiver although he does have a huge question mark surrounding his surgically repaired back. Best is an explosive playmaker who could help in the return game and take over for Faulk when Kevin is no longer a Patriot. Not sure Aluala is a great fit, but I like the idea of addressing 3-4 DE.

I'm in Love with that Draft.
We would finally have our Franchise RB.
Our pass rush would be pretty much be solved with Graham and Lane.
We would be the nr.1 defense against the run with Warren-Cody-Wilfork.

I like how it sounds.

The value for these picks are fine, but have some questions on fit.

Spiller - He works best in space (like Maroney but better athlete). Pats don't run outside much and this is the same OL that doesn't give Maroney much space. I like Spiller fine but will he reach his potential with the Pats?

JPP and Lane - Don't mind either and getting both also seems like a good idea. But wouldn't getting one of them along with a 3-4 DE prospect be prudent?

Cody - Unless you are assuming Wilfork is gone and/or Brace is a complete bust, I don't see Cody as a fit. I'm not down with Wilfork at DE except in niche formations. Wilfork-Cody-Warren is too easy to attack with West Coast passing and wide runs.

Not trying to pee in your cheerios. The pass rush would be much improved with JPP and Lane, but I'm not sure that Spiller improves this offense specifically. Also don't think that Cody/Wilfork/Brace all fit on the roster...or in the locker room...or in the showers...

I'd take Cody or Gilyard over Best. I'd take Gresham over Gronkowski. And I'd be seriously tempted to take Campbell in the first. Him and Vollmer would make a nice Tackle pair.

Cousin Mayo, Love your trades! It seems like this year is an enigma. There are a plethora of top three round players with talent galore and the back of the board seems very soft. Trade up every time you get a chance this year.

I'd like to see if we can get any pick for AD. With his past resume and measurables, someone may fall for him (saw a NY writer mention him in talking about the...J E T S). With his contract, other than cutting him we might have to do a trade and another pick type swap to pick up someone else s contract that might be iffy or that player wanting a raise. Bolden might be that guy and AZ probably can use an OLB. Perhaps Marshall might be a spot trade or LenDale White,(then you free up the need for RB in the draft if Spiller is gone and Tenn. is a good trading partner as they might lose two LB starters), I am convinced that there is no one else at RB that is tons better in this Draft after Spiller. White has 1,100 yards and 28 receptions two years ago and he is only 25. He is 235lbs. He is not going to start over Johnson with 2,000 yards last year. He is a proven commodity unlike Best, Blount etc. In the top fifty prospects by Draftscout.com, there are only three RBs. Spiller, Best (injuries) and Matthews who is said to have poor RB vision. No thanks we already have that guy. Nobody in this years running back class has impressed me.

But a lower #2 and AD might get Boldin done. Thoughts?

It's always hard to give up 2 players for one. Earlier this season I would have agreed with you wholeheartedly. Both Gresham and Best have injury issues, however. I'd want to get a better assessment of Gresham's ability to recover from a major injruy. And Best's concussion injury scares me quite a bit. Plus there's never any guarantee that both of those guys would be available in the 2nd round. If Spiller's available at 22 (or in that vicinity with a reasonable trade option) then I would be extremely interested. I think he's hands down the best offensive playmaker in the draft, and compares very favorably to Percy Harvin last year, without the migraine or social issues.

Talk to Philadelphia (or Cleveland), they've two third round picks and will be selecting twenty-fourth behind New England who selects twenty-second. And, of course, Oakland has two third round picks since they own New England's. I don't suppose New England tries to reacquire it.

What you could do is ask Philadelphia to swap first round selections and acquire their third round pick (likely the lowest of the two) in exchange for your sixth round pick and one of your seventh round picks. New England owns Philadelphia's seventh round pick. Conversely, making a deal with Cleveland is harder since they aren't selecting in the bottom half of the first round.

Keep in mind, the Patriots are due some late round compensatory picks.

Just for fun, here's who I would take assuming no trades:

22. Jason Pierre-Paul- purely a projection pick at this time. I doubt the Pats have a lot of interest in a guy with 1 year of major college football experience with their first round pick.

44. Terrence Cody- I've got a lot of questions about his ability to play a large number of snaps, but getting a potential dominator at the nose at pick 44? Got to pull the trigger.

47. Arrelious Benn- I like him more than most on the board

53. Corey Wootton- I want to see how he looks at the combine, I have a feeling he either goes significantly higher than 53 or significantly lower.

Hard to pass up Jermaine Gresham at 44 and it's tempting to reach for McCluster with one of the 2nd round picks.

Well, it exists elsewhere, but here we go:

22. Try to trade back and target Hughes. If unable to effect a reasonable trade, stand pat and draft OT Campbell. Legit LT prospect is a good use of 1st round pick. Hopefully we can acquire a 3rd or early 4th.

44. Gresham is far too good, and BB loves tight ends far too much, for Gresham not to be the choice here. He's far, far better than Pettegrew, who went in the first last year.

47. Carrington. A true elephant for this defense. If Wilfork is traded, which is hard for me to imagine, this pick would have to be Cody.

53. Well, if I couldn't draft Carrington last pick, I'm doing it now. If I already have Carrington, I'm trading back. Hopefully between this pick and the trade back from #1, I'd have three third rounders, or at least two and a fourth. I'd look for AJ Edds, Arthur Jones, and Mike Johnson
